I.G.
I use firefox and just picked up a malware program on this site last night, in spite of my antivirus running. I was pretty p...ed. I was wondering if other people had problems too...
It hijacks internet explorer. the tech guy has to send it off and he says it got past our working security program.
he says i hit surveys and that is probably how i got it. or the email that was random letters.
do you have it? how did you get it? My husband swears it is this site as the 3/4 computers have it and they are the ones i used to get on this site. the one i never did does not have it.
should i do more? change my settings?

Funny you should mention it -- my antivirus picks up something 3 out of 4 times that I'm on this site. Seems like it's happening more and more lately. I too have considered stopping my visits here.
I will say that a few months ago I had what the guys at the BestBuy called the "Russian Virus". No idea where it came from, but it would have cost more to fix than it did to buy a new computer. Now I'm SUPER vigilant about what I click on.
I had a similar issue last week. I restored my computer back to an old date but it happened again despite my antivirus software. I am beginning to think it might have something to do with this site because it is one site that would be consistent between last time and the most recent.
I am pondering whether I need to try different antivirus software, give up this site, or what???!!!
Oh and I NEVER click on ads or open rogue surveys so I'd have to say that noone is safe from this one...
I err on the safe side and I never ever click on any ads, surveys, links, etc. Same with Facebook. Never click on anything.
I also do not open any email from anyone I do not know or am not expecting something.
We've had no issues with our computers as of yet. Daugter had an issue with hers and we found out it was from a different site where she was buying and downloading songs.
Good luck!
First stop running IE, get Chrome or Firefox. IE actually shares files with your operating system making it easier to introduce viruses. The other thing is probably sites you go on or chain emails.
So far as this site goes I run no antivirus on my portable and it is clean so unless you are clicking random things on this site that shouldn't be the issue.
Never use IE! It is one of the main issues for all kinds of things. I've not had a problem on this site or at all but not saying I can't get one. I trust my anti virus program, NEVER use IE, and so far so good. I use Mozilla Firefox and it works fine.
i have one that says it is the Windows 7 anti-virus...but it IS the virus. It will close down IE and not let us get on the internet. we figured out that it was a virus itself because when we went to run the scan etc it kept on popping up. we did a system restore and it helped for a few days but it keeps popping back up every few days. it did it this morning while I was on here. i'm not sure that it is mampedia though, i dont click on any adds or anything. I think it comes from so many different ways. we cant take ours to get it fixed for awhile though so we just keep having to do the quick fixes. good luck!
Do any of your kiddos use your computers?? That might be where you are getting these things! Son finally figured out that one site he was going to was virus-laden cause the folks had not kept it monitored - we kept getting that Win7 thing as well. He does not go there now!
