T.M.
It happens to me a lot. My kids just laugh! I really think it has to do with the amount of stress you are under. If my mind is thinking about 12 other things and i am stressed, i cant speak!! Ugh, it is so frustrating!
I seem to be getting worse and worse and my husband is really getting annoyed with it. I just can't get the word out. I am constantly needing someone to "Insert word here". I have struggled with this for a few years now but becoming more and more noticeable to where even a friend made a comment on it. Am I really that rare of a person or am I missing some health issue that I could possibly have. I have always switched words (orders around) and have had a hard time picking out the word I want to say but definately becoming worse and worse. I am only in my mid 20's so it's not old age yet! I can't use that excus yet!!!!!!

It actually CAN be a sign of something medical going on. We all 'do it' from time to time... but as a consistent thing it can be a sign of MANY things ranging from simple deficiencies (nutritional, sleep, etc.) to neurological disorders to certain forms of cancer. Dontcha just LOVE medicine... pick a symptom, any symptom and it can be so benign as to be laughable, or completely and totally scary.
Go see your doc.
I blame it on baby brain. I am the same way. (I'm 23) The funny thing is that I have always prided myself on my (Oh my heck I'm doing it right now!!! LOL!) VOCABULARY!! (brain fart...) I was the editor of my high school yearbook, and was always top of my english classes.. now I have the hardest time remembering the simplest words. Heaven forbid I try to have an intelligent conversation any more! :P My spelling has also gone down the drain...
Probably too many things going on at the same time in your head when you talk. You just need to focus on what you are going to say before you say it. Slow down and think about the words and hopefully they come out when you need them
You should see your Doctor.
Ditto Riley J.
An in-law for example, had that issue. And had Parkinson's.
Just go see your Doc.
Or, you are just a tired, sleep deprived, stressed out and busy Mom who is always multi--tasking.
ie: Mommy Syndrome.
Definately not alone! I am in my mid twenties too, and do this all the time. I will be talking to my husband about something and my words come out backwards, or I will jumble the sentence I will be speaking. I get the "jumble mouth" Lol. Its awful and frustrates the heck out of me so I just try and talk slower and sometimes, not all the time but sometimes that helps. Gives me time to correctly say what I am trying to. And if I cant think of the word I want then I usually ask him what am I trying to say!?? He is usually pretty understanding about it.
I swear as soon as someone asks me something I forget that fact. If they didn't ask I wouldn't forget. :p You probably have a lot on your mind.
Sometimes when someone asks you a question, you just seem to forget the answer, even though you know it. Otherwise you just aren't very good a memorizing things. I'm sure you can find some games that will help your memory improve. Don't be embarrassed about trying the games in front of other people, or telling someone you know about your problem. Things like this happen to people all the time, and it doesn't mean you're sick or anything like that.
Oh god yes... I do this all the time. And I do it a lot with names!
I've known my best friends for 7 years, and just the other day I spent over an hour trying to figure out her name (I was trying to remember who to address the birthday card to... And she's my only friend (Literally)... So it shouldn't have been THAT hard). Miraculously, she called me that same day and as I looked at the caller ID I was like 'Yes! Becca! That's the name... Becca! Write that down.' Lmao!
LOL I do this too..alot....I will literally forget the word for things. I was trying to ask my son where the vaccumm cleaner was the other day and I could not remember the word. I ended up going "that THING you know it's loud and it sucks up dirt!!" and making hand motions and stuff. hehehhe
I want to say it happens ore when I am stressed
I have done that for so long! Especially when I want one specific word and not the synonyms that come to mind but aren't quite right.
I think it has to do with so much being in your brain, and really, words are kind of arbitrary sounds we've assigned meaning to, so sometimes the brain has little to latch onto (same as names, I've had the problem too). I wouldn't worry too much
I've heard it's a side effect of depression. Happens to me all the time, I'm always having to apologize for it. I feel it is worse the the more stressed I am, as mentioned earlier.
