M.L.
I don't know everyone by name, but there are so many people who I feel I am totally on the same page with, which is great, b/c in 'real life' so many women are not as honest as on here, I love that.
Ok, so I was just reading some responses to an interesting post, and there was one just fabulous response, many good ones, but one terrific one. And I got to thinking, WHOSE responses do you LOVE to read? For those of you, ok, us, who are chronically addicted to this site, I'm sure that you, like me, have your favorite responders...
We often take the time on this site to complain about the misspellings, poor wording, insulting responses, or responses that just didn't address the question... so let's take a moment to THANK those people whose responses are always awesome to read.
I'll start.
***RILEY J - *OMG* That's really all I can say. I'd love to know her (you, if you're reading this, Riley!) in person. She is truly fascinating. Her experiences, her knowledge about, well, anything, her writing, everything, she really stands out amongst the women here. I hope she stays on this site for as long as I do!
***MARTHA R - Just so informative, and always providing such sound advice. Clearly well educated and very knowledgeable.
***DENISE P - And I were seperated at birth. LOL We so often share opinions about things... and I appreciate her common sense advice sprinkled with a lovely touch of humor and a pinch of sass when needed!
***THERESA N - Another responder I usually identify with and whose responses also tend to crack me up!
***MARDA P - Always enjoy reading her responses.
***GRANDMA T - LOVE her humor! Always makes me laugh, and such nice, good advice.
***8KIDSDAD - I love this guy! I don't always agree with what he says, but I love that he's on here, and I love that he tends to come at issues from a different perspective than a lot of us ladies. Always a good read, even when I disagree.
***KRISTA P - Always very sound, informative advice. Very knowledgeable.
I know there are more (sorry to those of you whom I am currently forgetting), and I truly do appreciate ALL (ok, most - lol) of the responders on this site. Every opinion is valued, and often, there can be something gleaned from each and every response. That's the magic of a forum like this.
So, whose responses do you LOVE?
So many more that I would acknowledge personally, but forget their names, until I see them! Thanks to all of you for answering my many and often way too long posts! Merry Christmas to you ALL!!!
I don't know everyone by name, but there are so many people who I feel I am totally on the same page with, which is great, b/c in 'real life' so many women are not as honest as on here, I love that.
I love reading all of them as each and everyone on here has a different opinion and they always seem to come from the heart.....My girls are grown and I still love to see what everyone has to say....Thank you to all of you Mom's, Grandma's and Dad's on here....Great work everyone....Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday's to each and everyone of you....
I appreciate Everyone's time and advice that they put into helping others on this site :-) I would Love to sit and have lunch with most of the ladies on here and pick their brains a bit!! lol You all ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too many names to list..... and dont want to leave anyone out !
Dang, now we're all busted for being on this site so much! :)
Great question. Thank you.
I'll start with Riley, also.
Except she's not my very tippy-top choice
but she's waaaay up there.
Also Marda, S.H.from Hawaii, Peg M. and Page . . .
the latter two I occasionally confuse with one another.
I may think of 2 or 3 more later on.
And . . . . at the risk of appearing immodest . . . .
MOI!!
Every so often I think my writing here
is the best I've done in many years.
And, despite what your mom may have taught you,
it IS OK to be aware of and proud of your accomplishments.
I really like this site it is & can be very informative we come from all walks of life with how we were raised & how we parent. It is good to know that there are moms/dads out there who reach out to complete strangers to help them with what they are going through at home.
I have been on here for hours at a time not realizing it ,have sent out many flowers and received many flowers.I may not get to post or read as many as I would like to but to know that there are so many moms who do care to post there honest answer, blunt stinging response, caring & compassionate to those who they respond to,I know my answers aren't always great sometimes blunt to the point (sorry if I have ever offended anyone that is my personality, why cut corners when you can get to the point).
Thanks ladies & gentlemen we are all parents and raise our families with help & knowledge from strangers as a team.
There are so many. I could not list them all without feeling guilty of leaving anyone out..
I also feel like some of you are my friends. There is a mom that has shared very personal information with me and helped get me and another family through a terrible time.. I consider her an angel that was sent just in time to make things better.
To SH, I have a friend that is begging me to go to Hawaii and visit him.. If I go, we need to meet!
All of the moms you guys have listed are awesome. I love reading their ideas and experiences.
I always enjoy Theresa N, Page W, Peg M., Mum4everR., Jane M. and a lot of yours L. P.! I usually like and enjoy the ones from Krista P., Denise P., Joanna F.and Shira P. There's a Jen and a Dawn whose responses I usually really like, and I can't remember their last initials :-( I'll have to research it! This site is a never-ending fountain of interest! Lots of good advice and lots of things that make my jaw drop -never boring! I know I'm leaving out several people I really enjoy!
Grandma T and 8kidsdad :)
I enjoy:
AL always straight to the point and with many wonderful ideas
additionally, theresa N and many others..
Anything that Martha R. writes is outstanding. Well reasoned and eye-opening -- and historically accurate. Also Dawn B. She always gives very down-to-earth, sensible advice.
I'd have to say I usually enjoy Riley's as well, along with Shira, Page, Mum4, a couple of Jens, and an Amanda or two and of course yours L.. There are a few more that either slay me with laughter or that are so intellegent they make me wish I would have wrote them ;)
I usually don't read responses before I do my answer so I dont get swayed one way or another, but when I read them after the fact that's when I think "Damn, she's right, I wish I would have thought of that!".. lol
AND--Anyone that I've sent a flower to (you know who you are), I'd name them all but there are too many! There are a lot of great gals on here and gives me hope for the future generation.
L.,
I love YOUR responses (of course, Twin Girl!) I relate to your agonizing reflections over your little O.--truly a "thinker"!
I also love, love, love Riley J, Mechanic Mama, Grandma T, Theresa N, 8KidsDad, Laurie A, Marda P, ......too many to name here!
I probably shouldn't spend nearly as much time on this as I do, but most of my day is spent in front of a computer at this pont...
L. P for her questions and responses
Martha for her continued reminders that kids with ADHD are REAL
Denise P
Riley J- we would probably be friends in "real life"
Theresa N
Thank you all for your thought-provoking questions, responses and willingness to share your worries, fears, frustrations and inadequacies. It takes a lot of confidence to do so!
Riley J !
She always has the perfect response and words it much better than I could.
That is a great lady.
Perfect ADHD responses EVERY time.
I don't always notice the authors of posts, but I think I like the same people you do!
Great question!
Uh, well YOURS, of course.
At the risk of being clicky.....
Marda, both Marthas, all the Denises (one with a c), Page, at least two Amandas, many more 'cept I can't come up with them right now. OOH, and Heather, ALL the fellas (dumb though they may be, impresses me when they stick their, uh, necks out, tehehe), MechanicMama, Riley of couse, and I know I forgot some awesome Mammas who are GIVING away priceless time, info, insight that they REALLY should be getting reimbursed for. Somer, that's another one, Heidi too. Ah, DMVMOM.....
So good post, a chance to thank all these fabulous cyberfriends who's company I enjoy almost daily!!
Damn, thanks Bobbi, how could I forget DAWN? also JULIE, sigh, sorry :(
Shane, Laurie.....it goes on and on....
L-O-L-A Lola, probably she's never heard THAT before
I always notice yours, L.. I like your positive tone.
And I always look for Riley, Hazel, Laura A, Liz A, Marda, Martha R, Page, Denise P, and at least a dozen others whose names I recognize when I see them. I love responses that make me pause and reconsider my own beliefs, too. I have grown because of this.
sue t is my favorite, she can be blunt and straight forward, but i usually like what she has to say
I always love Riley's responses, too. She's awesome!
I love Grandma T! not sure where she has been but i love her wit, I also feel the same as you L. about 8kidsdad, so refreshing to hear his responses.
Oh and Theresa N! there are a few more that i will add as i think of them.
Dawn B, Riley, Theresa, you of course, L., all the denises, and many many more. i'll update as I look whom I have send flowers to.
PAGE, Beth, and the Jens (plural), Shira, the guy with 8 kids (oh my).
Tracy K,Theresa N ,Marda P, Martha R.,Riley. I also like your quirky questions.
Cant believe you put this up ,I'm very in tune with energy and had a vision last night that I would be answering this post tonight.
Good sign for me as it shows that I am meant to be apart of this site.
Sending good energy to all you Mamas
B. K.
Honestly, I never pay attention to the names/authors - maybe as an unconscious effort to not have judgement about anyone? (haha) I used to think that all of the flowers I'd received meant that folks liked my replies. But then I read that most moms give flowers to anyone who's posted a reply and that sent my ego plummeting :D!
Good question!
I think a whole another post could be done asking whose perspective do you miss? I really miss JJ and Suzie Y's since they don't seem to spend much time on the site anymore :-(
Among MANY others, I love Marda P.
She is nonjudgemental and has a WONDERFUL understanding that YES, some of us do have certain ONGOING challenges with our kids, no matter how well or consistently we parent.
