Hmm, I haven't seen it -- I'm glad you're giving it a good review -- I would have a hard time watching it without Fred himself. My kids are older now, but I might have to switch it on, just to see for myself.
This was on for the first time today, my daughter has been waiting for it. I loved it, as did my husband...they took Mr. Rogers and modernized it, but the same characters are still there. Lady Elaine had a black little girl, and King Friday has a little boy who is Daniel's age. So, who else got sentimental feelings about this new show?

My son is watching it right now. I noticed the Mr. Rogers theme song, but haven't been paying attention to the rest of the characters. Although this Grrrific saying is starting to get on my nerves!
ETA: Nifty galifty and meow meow are also getting on my nerves!
My son and daughter have been waiting for this show all summer long. At first, I thought it was a total knock off of Mr. Rogers until I saw it was based on the old show. duh. And then it reminded me an awful lot of Nei Hao, Kai Lan with the little rhymey song they sing to fix their problems. My kids really enjoyed it though, so I am sure it will be the new favorite to watch. They like the old Mr. Rogers shows too.
A.
I did not realize the premise was Mr. Roger's Neighborhood til the end (I only caught part of it while visiting with MIL) so I want to watch it again. What I did notice I liked.
Ha ha ha...Amanda, my thoughts EXACTLY. The meow meow thing was annoying but the show was cute! It did bring back some memories! Cute show
Oh, I loved Mr Rogers. His books are great, we have the one on adoption. I dont think my 7 yr old will like this show but I want to check it out....
Hi! My Sarah and I watched and hubby and son stopped doing yard work for a few to see what it was. I guess before I tell you what we thought I should tell you we are not typical viewers.
Sarah will be 17 next week, Steve is 19. They were raised without Disney, Nickelodeon, the Simpsons, or any of that other type stuff. We are longtime Mr Rogers fans. Even into their early teens if we needed a few moments of peace I would turn Mr Rogers on and the house would get calmer, he was magic. He simply, quietly, calmly told children what they needed to be told. A voice of reason that kids could always count on. And adults could learn a lot from him too. His books still grace our bookshelf in the bathroom. We would all do well to work on our inner Fred.
This is not our Mr Rogers.
That said, it was cute. We decided it definitely played to a young, young crowd and did not hold the age spread of Mr Rogers. It was calmly predictable and the characters endearing. Sarah was upset that Daniel did not change out of his sweater...
I'm not sure how different it is from all the other toddler TV going on, bringing back the real thing would have been better. But I hope everyone loves it.
I forgot it had started already. My daughter has been playing the games for this show on PBS Kids website for a while. I'll have to see when it's on. We love PBS at our house. Even my older son (he's 8) will watch most of the shows on there.
ETA: We've been meow meow talking for a few weeks at our house. The kids think it's meow meow funny.
will have to check it out huge fan of the original.
