Whitening Teeth While Breastfeeding

Does anyone know if it is okay to whiten teeth while breastfeeding? I would like to use the Whitestrips, but want to make sure it is okay before I do. I have been so careful to only eat and drink what I am supposed to during my pregnancy and during breastfeeding, so I would hate to do something that would hurt my baby now.

What can I do next?

I was told by two dentists and a Registered Dental Hygentist that it wasn't recommended. Basically because they hadn't tested it out on pregnant women nor would they.

Dear H.,

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that my dentist was totally against me whitening my teeth while breastfeeding. I even asked him about the Crest White Strips and he said no to those too. I hope that this helped! Take Care, M.

I used them recently and they caused a few minor side effects, like sensitivity to the teeth for a little while and I also found it hard sometimes not to swallow the smallest amount of it while trying to take them out.But I have to be honest....to MY knowledge I don't think that you whitening ur teeth is going to cause harm to ur breast milk. But if you are concerned about the unknown and more against it than for it then go with how you feel and wait till ur no longer breast feeding. You could also call up ur OB and ask him/her if it is ok for you to do that.

Well H.,
That is a good question because even though some things may not seem like it is okay, it might not be, especially when you are breastfeeding. I say you should ask your pre-natal doctor if you are in doubt.
