I have 2 Maclaren Quests and love them! Got the first one over 3 years ago and it is still in great condition and my 4 yr old still uses it for long days/walks, so we bought a second Quest this summer for my 1 yr old.
My husband and I are going to register next week. My uncle is buying us the UPPA baby stroller, which will be our main stroller. We also want to register for an umbrella stroller. I have heard and read great things about the maclaren, but there are so many to choose from. Do you think its worth the extra money for the reclining seat? What are the other differences? This stroller will mostly be used when we travel to Florida to see my in-laws. Thanks in advance!

I am also figuring out the same thing right now. I have been debating between the quest and triumph.. Let me know what you find out!
We registered for the volo btw and returned it. I just didn't feel like it was sturdy enough for a young baby.
Volo is light and great. I like the white one (cutest and doesn't show all the dirt, surprisingly!) I have had the black, brown and white. Love the Volo -- light and easy -- great city stroller (I live in city.)
I'm a Volo girl, myself! It folds up relatively compactly, can be slung over your shoulder and carried (when you tot is older and wants to walk by him or herself awhile and you can't chase after them with a huge stroller!) and weighs only 8 pounds! It take up almost NO room in the truck, too. Only drawback is you can't really use it until baby is old enough to sit up on their own... I think it has a 6 months+ rating. Costs about 100 bucks. The next up version (Triumph)might be better for moms with younger children (mine is 3 and needs no frills) as it has a reclining feature not found in the Volo, It weighs only 12 pounds but the difference is noticable if you think you might actually be carrying it a lot. It also costs a bit more.
My Maclaren Triumph is the only stroller we had once my daughter was out of her car seat. I purchased it because it's light weight (back issues), folds up small (had a car), holds up to 55 lbs (older daughter could use it as well), & was tall enough (I'm 5'10", DH is 6').
Other reasons we've discovered we love it: the rain cover is great for windy days (walking around big cities), the carrying strap is great, twirls on a dime, easy to fold and unfold.
Love the reclining seat-I have transferred a sleeping child from the car, to the stroller-gone shopping and returned her to her to the carseat without waking! Very worth it. (I believe the "triumph" has a supported back where the "volo" is sling style-I prefer the supported back).
I hope this helps you decide-Maclarens are worth the cost, they are great strollers.
Not sure about umbrella strollers, but as far aas the Uppa Baby, if you don't need the bassinet that comes with the Uppa, check out the Maxi Cosi Foray. It works with several infant car seats and has the same table height as the Uppa and Stokke. We got ours at Babies R Us for $270 (was approx. $350 and had a 20% off coupon) -- half the price of the Uppa Baby and a third that of the Stokke. Maybe your uncle could then afford to toss in a car seat and decent umbrella stroller? :-)
We have the Volo, and it has worked well for us. It doesn't have a reclining seat, but we never seemed to need it. My daughter fell asleep in the Volo just fine. We started using it when she was 5-6 months old. Since most of our long walks are in the warmer months, I liked the Volo because it had a mesh back. I noticed in our other larger Graco stroller her little back would get quite hot after a short time, and it seemed uncomfortable. She is almost two, and we probably walk 2-3 miles a day in the warmer months. It has lots of miles, and we haven't had any problems. My advice is that you will probably use your umbrella/ lightweight stroller much longer, so invest in something you will like. We had a Graco for our other stroller, and after the MacLaren came along, I only used it for grocery shopping because it had a larger basket. I was happy with the Graco, but we only used it for a few months. I would only recommend that you place a plastic bag over the wheels before folding the Volo because it tends to get dirt on the canopy. That seemed to keep it a little cleaner. Good luck!
Ultimately it depends on your child, but I would absolutely go for the reclining seat and the more under seat storage the better. When you're traveling it you are doing a lot during the day and if your child is comfortable and even able to sleep in the stroller you will be a happy mama!
Just my 2 cents!
I love my Triumph. It is so light, perfect for traveling. Look at Babies R Us. When we bought ours (last year), they had it for 100 and then would take the 20% coupon.
