My daughter just turned 6 months we started stage 2 at about 4 1/2 months. i felt there was just not many of the stage ones to pick from but when we switched to the stage 2's we started with half jars and when we knew her tummy was okay for the full jar we let her have all of it.I think your lil one could handle the stage 2's start slow every baby is different and you'll be the one to know if your baby is ready.my lil one was still hungry after the stage 1's and always wanted more so we moved up to the 2's and she did great on it.

We started cereal around 5 months & food not long after that. During our 6 month check our ped said that there isn't enough difference between 1 & 2 stage foods and we could start on some 2 if we wanted to. She said they pose no danger to our little miracle & are a better value. We finished up the stage 1 that we had and started buying stage 2. He is 15 months old now and the love of my life - only next to his Daddy! Enjoy your little one -being a Mommy is the best feeling in the whole world!

Christina,

Since it's recommended that you spend 3-4 days on each variety of food before trying the next, I would first suggest working your way through ALL the varieties of what ever brand you have chosen for Stage 1 feeding. I emphasize ALL varieties because it's a common thing for parents to impose their own tastes for foods onto their children as they're learning to eat and experiment with different flavors. At the point where Cody has tried them all, and he meets the following guidelines, I'd say go for it.

* sits without support
* rolls over from back to front
* eats from a spoon easily
* has control of head and body movements

Best of luck and have fun!! Babies ARE miracles sent from heaven, on loan to us from God.

Blessings,

Really no big difference in consistency just a bigger jar, if he eats more than a little jar switch. It is less expensive and you can dish out what he needs and save the rest for a later feeding.
