My 6 year old daughter has just been to a doctor to discover that she has strep throat and tonsilitis.. Her fever runs from 102-102.5 depending on when she has had tylenol. My husband has an out of town drs appt. tomorrow but her physician has advised against traveling with her. His appt. requires staying over night with relatives for a couple of nights. I was just wondering what your opinions were as to whether I should send him alone or take her and let her rest there. There is also a health concern as his mother is at the place we will be and she is elderly and not alway well.

What can I do next?

well it all depends on what your hubby is going in for (my dad had cancer and i was the one to take him to chemo) if its serious id say you would be in the "wrong" not to go. yes your child is sick but if your hubby is as well....can grammy or auntie stay with her? so you can go with him?

ask friends if they can stay with her (not the best option but if she can get sicker it might be the best taht youve got.)

if its nothing serious i say let him go alone-he may not seem like it all the time (mine doesnt) but he is an "adult" and will be at his mommies house so he should be fine.

I hope this has helped some,
K.

If my child was that sick I would stay home!! Home is the most relaxing place. Strep & tonsilits is nothing like a cold it could get worse!

i think that the question you need to ask yourself is, would your daughter feel better at home or on the road? as long as she has had two doses of antibiotic she is no longer contagous. she might feel better staying in her own bed, rather than having the need to be social. with five kids i feel for you, with one sick its even harder then usual. good luck

Well, first, is there anyway hubby can re-schedule? The dr is right, for your daughters sake she shouldn't be traveling. On top of that, the infection could kill your mother in law. Elderly are not as able to battle infection. If he can't reschedule, I would send him alone, and ask a family member to help him. Unfortunately this is one of the pitfalls of parenting ~ the unexpected! I can't count how many times it has happened to me! They always get sick, when you least want them to be! lol I hope this helps! I am so sorry for your problem, and I hope your daughter feels better real soon!

Stay home. There is no point in subjecting her to the discomfort of traveling when she is already uncomfortable. Plus, you need to think about the other people that you would be subjecting to her illness! I really think staying home would be the best option in this case.

If he is going to be with family, he is in good hands then. Stay home and take care of the kids that need you more. She will rest better in her own bed, with her siblings around her. The long car ride might be too much for her. Fever might rise, and if the fever gets too high, you would want to take her to the dr. but you would be out of town and hve to take her to people that know nothing about her and get little help overall. I say stay and let your husband have his family spoil him for a couple days.
