Simple question. Funny thing I have no idea. I'm wanting to get my daughter something that is a great long lasting gift. preferably without a million pieces that get broken. Possibly something educational. Hmmm...I just don't know.

Those of you with 4 yrs olds girls what is their favorite toy.

Thank you for your ideas.

What can I do next?

My daughter has a ton of fun things from Melissa and Doug. Her favs are the lacing blocks and the wooden magnetic dress up doll. She also loves her magnadoodle and her crayola glow station.

My 4 y/o daughter loves Play Doh. It's messy but she usually uses it up pretty quickly and we move on! She also really loves the small Strawberry Shortcake and Disney Princess Dolls. She got Cinderella's carriage with horses and everything and loves it! She also loves games, board and card, which do have lots of pieces sometimes, but not always! ;) The Eeboo brand of card games are awesome b/c the artwork is fabulous and the cards are big and sturdy. She also loves match game, any variety, and Elefun. She also still really loves baby dolls.

If you want something big, I'd for sure say a bike or a scooter if she doesn't have one, but outdoor time is limited, especially probably in UT, so she might not get a ton of use out of it right now.

The dsi nintendo.. She loves the Kirby games.. Or the Kirby games for the wii.. Or we bought my daughters a beta fish from pet smart and they have these really cool tank that are small square and u can change the back ground of the tank to match dd room.. Great for a dresser. I think the tank was 20 dollars. Then we bought some of the rocks that are big about size of grapes and are crystal colors.

My 3 yr old daughter just had a birthday and the items I got her would be fun for a 4 yr old also.
I got a wooden 4 pack Disney puzzle set. http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Girls-Pack-Wood-Puzzles/dp/B...

I also got her this Minnie Bowtique. It's like dress ups with out all the little pieces and the clothes snap on. http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Disneys-Princess-Bowti...

Then she got this Disney Fairy gift pack. They are on stands but they can be taken off (my 3 yr old has not yet discovered this fact though thank goodness). http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Fairies-Figurine-Set-Tinkerb...

She plays with these things ALL the TIME!!!
Another thought might be a Vtech camera. My 4 now 5 yr old son loves taking pictures and these cameras are awesome. Or the leapster system is great (less expensive than a Wii but more durable for a kid). Love these because they are fun yet educational. For example my 5 yr old has to figure out patterns to save Mater from the clock tower. I got this for him when he was 4 1/2 and he plays it a lot.

I know you do not want anything with a lot of pieces but my nearly 4 yo LOVES the Littlest Pet Shop. We keep the pets in a small pink plastic box and she carries the shop and pets everywhere! She got them in June.

On the more educational side, check out anything from Melissa and Doug. If you lose pieces or if they break (which I have never had happen) they will replace the whole toy!

Happy B-day to your daughter and enjoy!

i really wanted to get my daughter the new vtech innotab but she is a little young for it, it says ages 4-9 though so if that's your daughters kind of thing she would probably love it, its kinda an all in one, reads books, colors, games, music, look at pics etc.

Our standard 4 year old birthday gift was an ant farm. Educational - yes. Cool - yes. Long lasting - our ants lived about 6 months. Similar reports from most of the friends we got them for. They are small (ours was about 6x8 inches with a small lighted stand), completely self enclosed and there is no feeding or cleaning.

My recently-turned 5-year-old loves her Leapfrog Tag reader, and currently she is loving the Tinkerbell fairy puzzles book. The tag is $30-40 depending on sales but you can find the books for $10-13 so I can get her new books for new occasions with relatively little cost. The tag reads to them and they can play games, and I love it in the car because she can keep herself busy for quite a long time with it... Of course, shopping carts and strollers and high heels are always fun too! :)
