We did Fertilatiy awareness method for years. And then once we were done DONE my hubby got the vasectomy.
Hello mamas,
I'm still trying to figure out what the best and safest birth control methods are and what others have experienced.
I'm pregnant with my 4th child, got pregnant with Paraguard, so I would like to do something to make sure I don't have any more surprises, but don't want to risk my health doing so...
I was looking at Essure, but see a lot of negative feedback online - lots of pain, cramping and pregnancy.
I'm looking for input on your favorite permanent method... Thank you

I am on the paraguard and luckily have not gotten pregnant. They can shift and you can get pregnant. I would say either get the tubes tied or have you husband get a vasectomy. You had four kids so it may be nice if he made a contribution. It is less painful for men and only takes a few days to heal while women are out of commission for a few weeks. You will not be able to lift anything over five pounds. good luck
Vasectomy! You don't have to do anything... which is great!
Vasectomy :)
You won't have to do a thing, other than waiting on your husband when he gets whiny over being sore for a few days. (And then, you gently remind him that you spent 36 months - 3 years - of your life pregnant and pushing a small watermelon out. His vasectomy should pale in comparison to that.)
So far, Mirena IUD. I can't use the copper IUD because I'm allergic to the copper.
I also have an allergy to nickel so I can't use the Essure. People get pregnant with Essure if they don't use a backup method of birth control in the first 3 months. Then they have to get a checkup from the doctor to make sure that it worked properly.
When I get this Mirena out (it's my 2nd one) we'll probably get the Big V for my husband. I'm tired of being responsible for birth control.
My husband and I use NFP (Natural Family Planning), and it is definitely the safest method of birth control. It is not the rythym method, but much more accurate. No surgery or pills necessary! Check out this website for more info:

The only "permanent" solution is to stop having sex... no fun! Would your husband consider a vasectomy? It's considered permanent, but is much less invasive than a tubal ligation.
The Essure thing kind of freaks me out, but that's just me!
DH is promising a vasectomy. I am really looking forward to it.
I would suggest talking with your gynecologist. Mine has told me recently of a new procedure for women that is an updated version of getting your tubes tied. He said it is less invasive and less painful than a man getting a vasectomy, and just as effective. He said it can be done in his office, no hospital visit required! Ask your doctor!
Good luck!
I'm on the Trivora-28 pill and have never had any trouble with it. After my last baby though we decided that we're done having children and I don't want to be on hormones anymore. I had Essure done in March - cramped a little the day of the procedure, and bled like a light period for about 5 days afterwards, and since then, I would never have known I had anything done. Yes you have to be on other birth control between the procedure and the x-ray, which you have 90 days after the procedure to be sure you're blocked. But the only pregnancies that have ever been recorded from Essure patients are from the people that failed to use a back-up method between the procedure and the x-ray. Duh!!! Why would you go through the procedure and not use a backup until the x-ray? Crazy. Other than that failure to follow directions, once the x-ray confirms you to be blocked, it's more effective than anything on the market. Do your own research; for something this important be sure you get the facts on everything, as well as peoples' opinions of the procedures or products themselves.
I had a hysterectomy and it was the best thing I EVER did!! No more stress or worries....but I did it because I was totally done having babies and was tired of the issues I was dealing with....
I had my full hysterectomy on Monday, was in the hospital over night and home the next afternoon. I was shopping for a new stove on Thursday... I FEEL GREAT!!!!! Can't get any more permanent than a hysterectomy!! (LOL!)
I'm on the Mireana and I love it. I originally wanted the Paragaurd but my doctor gave me some facts about how since I'm a bigger girl it would help my odds against cancer because it thins and gets rid of the linning better.
I originally didn't want any hormones, but I'm rather glad I did get this. Super light periods, easy insertion (I have the perfect birthing body type and I'm sure that is why it was easy), very few cramps and not very painful.
But if I was in your shoes, I would have your husband get a vasectomy. Why should you put up with birth control anymore? It's your turn to relax about sex!!
I got my tubes tied 11 days ago, no complications or regrets so far. :)
Working lots of hours, lol!!!!!!!!!
I did like the pil Yaz when I took it.
Honestly after having dealt with an ectopic pregnancy I wouldn't feel comfortable using Essure, tubal ligation, or IUDs, even if I could use them.
I combine using the mini-pill, condoms, spermicide, and Natural Family Planning. I use condoms that don't have spermicide, because you should only use 1 spermicide in 24 hours or it can have a neutralizing effect reducing its effectiveness. I use VCF film spermicide which I have had good results with thus far.
I take a mini-pill at the same time every day, because I already have other medicines that are tightly scheduled so taking 1 more pill is not a big deal to me. I also use NFP, but I don't do the charting other than tracking my cervical mucus, except when I was TTC.
Once my husband and I are done having kids we agreed that he'd go get a vasectomy, since I did the harder work of growing, birthing, and breastfeeding the kids.
Paraguard.
Same failure rate as a tubal ligation
Doesn't give me cancer (hormonal BC triggers gynecological cancer in me)
Nuva ring is pretty reliable. If you put it in and it stays it is pretty foolproof.
My friend had the Essure and it was awesome. She had minimal cramping the first afternoon but felt well enough to go out to eat at a nice Sushi restaurant with her hubby.
If the person returns to the doc at the right time and the doc runs the dye through to see if the procedure is complete then the tubes are blocked, there is no way for the egg to get past the block.
I liked both the Depo shot and ortho tri pills, but my favorite has been my husbands vasectomy!!!
Birth control? Mirena. Why? No periods.
