No offense, but Hazel sounds like an old lady's name! I think you mentioned before you liked Abigail. I like it much better. Or Madeline/Madelyn? It goes with Caroline. Maybe? Good luck!
My first daughter's name is Caroline Rose and my husband and I are thinking of naming the second "Hazel Marie". She's due in late March and we're just trying to get some opinions.
Thank you all so much for the advice. My little girl came into the world on Friday March 28th at 7:40am...and we named her Catherine Grace. Catherine was my husband's great-grandmother's name and we loved the fact that it isn't as popular as some of the others we liked. Plus, we love the fact that it has a special meaning seeing that it is from a family member who was very dear to everyone's hearts. It's very strange because she even seems to have great-grandmother's coloring, as far as dark hair and green eyes. Thanks for everyone's advice!!

I think it's a beautiful name. Sometimes I wonder what parents are thinking when they name their children Apple!! It's a very sweet name, IMHO, and I like the old-fashioned names. I have a dear friend with daughters named Esther and Naomi, beautiful girls and beautiful names.
I love it! It is my grandmother's name and I think it is old-fashioned and beautiful. Plus, you won't have to worry about thirty other girls in her class having the same name. My husband doesn't like it, he isn't into the older names, or we would be naming a daughter Hazel.
That sounds beautiful.
I love it!!!, its beautiful!!!

I've only known one Hazel, and she was a cool kid! I like names that are not so common. Growing up "L." I got sick of being "L. v" all the time. We named our daughter Marina, and we've probably met fewer than 10 Marina's since she's been around (and most were Germany). Hazel's nice--unique, but not unheard of. People won't go "Huh?" when you say her name. Again, it's personal--not all of these things matter to everyone--but I think you're making a good pick. :)
Congratulations!
L.
I love the name Hazel. I had an Aunt named Hazel who was the most caring wonderful person. Name you baby what ever you want to. No one in the family liked the name I picked out for my daughter But I named her after my best friend and my grandma. She loves her name and so do I. The family had to get over it :)
To be honest, I'd be very upset with you if I were the daughter named "Hazel" and I had a sister with a beautiful name like Caroline.
I really like that name.
According to my daughter who is 13, you should definitely name your daughter Hazel. She says that it is better to have a unique name "these days", because her name, Emily, is so common, everyone who walks down the hallway seems to be calling for her...and then when she turns to look, the kids say, "No, not you. THAT Emily".
She has a friend named Edith who has an easier time in school because no other teenager has that name. I hope this was helpful. I figured advice from a kid that's dealing with all the drama of Junior High could give better name advice than me: I have forgotten what a nightmare Junior High school was!
Good luck. I think the name is lovely.
I don't care for the name Hazel. Sounds like an old ladies name to me. I would go for Makenna, Kaylee, Haley, Anna or something more this century. But hey you are the mom and can name your child anything you and your husband like.
I am all for different and unique names. Unfortunately, not a big fan of the old fashioned names. I tend to lean towards the more modern names that are not used very often. You do have consider the effects of the name on your child. Growing up, my name C., was not a common name and I suffered through many years of insults because of my name being so different. Now that I am an adult I love the fact that my name is different from everyone elses, but I remember the days when I would get so mad at my parents for "cursing" me with my name. But just like everyone else has said, it comes down to what you and your husband think is a pretty name. When everyone disapproved of my son's name (Bodhi pronounced Bodie) and my daughter's middle name (Arabella) I told them all to go fly a kite. My kids, my perogative. Whatever you choose that you know will make you happy is what you should choose. (Love Marie by the way) Good luck with the name picking, it always turns into such a HUGE ordeal. Congrats!
I think Hazel is a beautiful and unique name.
I love the name! Hazel is a beautiful name and I will second the people who said it stinks to have a very common name. I also grew up having to ask "which J.?". I think it helps in school also. As a teacher, I can tell you all the Emily's and Chris' tend to blur together somedays. A Hazel would stand out and in turn tend to get more of the teacher's attention.
Good Luck and go for what your heart tells you.
i think hazel is a unique and old fashioned name. i love the name marie. my first daughter was almost loraleigh but ended up lauren nicole. names are a very special thing, and i know that everyone says, think about how the child will be treated with that name. but names are personal and they are with the child for the rest of their lives. sometimes i wish i had gone ahead with loraleigh but in reality, my kid's personality fits lauren really well. my second girl is taylor rae ann. yes, two middle names, and i was worried about that...why would a kid need 2 middle names? her father wanted anne taylor, but i had to put my foot down with that one, no way, no kid of mine will be named after a clothing store.
all in all, whatever name you choose will be the best. but hazel marie is super cute in my opinion and feminine. and hey, julia roberts named one of her kids hazel.
LOVE IT. I have a Carolline too.
I think you should name your baby whatever appeals to you.
I really don't care for the name but if it suits the parents, what difference does it make
If you just want to see how many like the name and how many don't my vote is against it.
However, I would name my baby anything that I liked and not worry about it. If you like it, go for it. It will always be special to her because it came from you two and from your hearts.
C.,
Good morning. I personally LOVE 'traditional' or 'old style' names. I believe Hazel is beautiful. I've never been one to be influenced because of others when it comes to naming our children. All our children have family names with significance and I love it. CONGRATULATIONS and name your daughter what your heart tells you! (oh, and my oldest was born on March 23 and is an amazing child!!!). God Bless and Merry Christmas.
I think Hazel is a cute name!!!
I'm sorry but I don't like it. It reminds me of a witch. Marie is pretty though and I really like your first daughter's name.
I love old-fashioned names. I have a great aunt who is named Hazel, so to me it is also a family name. I'm not sure about the middle name, but that is up to you. I have a Caroline too!
are you the same who was asking about Abigail or Gabrielle? Well, I think you are heading in a good direction. Though I like both of the previous names, they are becoming fairly common. When I first hear "hazel" I think of an older woman, but really the name is all what your daughter makes it. She will make the name and not vice versa. FYI- I believe Julia Roberts named one of her twins Hazel.
It's okay. Not a big fan of Hazel but all together is sounds cute. It's what you and your husband like not everyone else in the world. Why is it so difficult to pick a name for a second girl? I had the same problem. Best of luck and have a Very Merry Chirstmas!
