Just cut pieces very small and put just a few on her tray at a time. I had a gobbler and it was time consuming to feed him, but the stage doesn't last very long.
Hi to all, my daughter will be 1yr on july 7th and i'm having a hard time trying to feed her. She only has two teeth(bottom two) and so i can't really give her table food (i have have tried she gags). Kay even chokes on stage 3 baby food. I m giving for baby food and baby cereal but she is starting to get picky, she doesn't want me to feed her. She wants to feed herself but can't when it's baby food. I talked to her doc. and she says to just give her table food in really small pieces. I HAVE done this but if you put more then a couple of pieces in front of her she puts them all in her mouth and chokes. So all i can do is give to 1 or 2 pieces at a time but at that rate she will be eating lunch till supper.I know im not the only parent whos baby only had 2 teeth at this age so please help. I never had this problem with my first he had all his teeth by the time he was 1, so i'm really lost.

Our daughter is almost 11 months old and has 2 1/2 teeth. She has been eating pretty much everything we eat now for about a month. One of the first things we gave her were the Gerber cereal puffs. They pretty much just melt in the mouth. We started out just putting 2-3 on her tray while we were feeding her baby food. It took her just a short time before she was used to gumming the food and moved on to other things. I use my Pampered Chef food chopper to chop up anything that I give her. If is something new that I think she might have trouble gumming I will chop it up extra small. Good luck!
My son will be 1 in august and is the same way. He to will put it all in his mouth and at first it did take forever at a meal, but it is a good learning experience for them to. My son loves to feed him self and has gotten much better with practice. Now we can put whatever on his highchair and he is ok with it and knows when to much is to much. It will get better just let her keep trying even if it does take a little longer for now. Good luck, it is fun watching them learn all this new stuff.
I started all my kids on table food when they had only two teeth, I had to, they refused to eat anything but what the others were eating. So I just used a chopper to chop it finer and I let them make a mess. My almost 2 yr old can handle a spoon like a pro now!! As long as my kids saw me chopping up the food, they were ok with eating it chopped up finer too. Good Luck!
Hi S.! I have 13 mo old twin girls, one of which only had her bottom teeth at a year. They both had (sometimes still do) problems putting too much food in their mouth. I would cut all of the food into small pieces then sit with them as they ate. I would put one-two pieces down & then go back & forth between them. Yeah, it does take a while, but at least they were getting food! I would recommend feeding them fruit that will mush easily with her gums or tongue. M. girls always did really well w/ really ripe pears, peaches, melon & bananas. Just make sure you are cutting the pieces up small enough! She'll get the hang of it before you know! Also, she's getting to that age where she'll want to start copying you, so when she's waiting for you to put more on her plate, put a piece in your mouth & exaggerate your chewing so she sees what to do. I always try to get all of their food ready so that I can just sit with them & concentrate on getting them fed. Good luck!
Babies don't need teeth to chew. The first teeth come in the front and those are for tearing food anyway. All babies even if they have a few teeth are principally gumming their food until they have molars that grind food. Some babies do gag easily. Offer soft foods, cut things into really small pieces, and only offer a few at a time until your baby learns. I would follow up baby's efforts at eating with some baby food if you don't think she's had enough to eat.
