I have a 7 mth old who currently uses the Dr. Brown bottles but there are so many pieces to clean and I just don't feel like i can get the top of stem clean enough. I am looking for a new bottle to try and was considering the momo baby bottles or green baby bottles because she doesn't care for the wide necks like avent. Any suggestions, thanks!
Thanks for all your answers, I have tried the vent air ones but ended up throwing them away because the bottles would leak all over but before that I thought they were great because I could use the Dr. Brown nipples with them. I ended up going with the ThinkBaby bottles because they have good reviews and have a conversion kit to turn them into sippy cups. She does use the Nuby sippy cup now for her apple juice which she loves but I don't know if I'm ready to turn everything over to them. And as far as the Dr. Brown's I do soak them and use the special brush after every use but I don't know, I loved the bottles otherwise and think I would feel more comfortable if I had a dishwasher but I don't yet, unfortunately. But thanks again for all of your wonderful suggestions.
My son would only drink from the nipples on Medela or Dr. Brown - I tried 12 other kinds/brands and kept going back to DB. They're also the ones that cause the least gas for him. No matter who we switched to, that promised less gas, they didn't perform like the DB's. So, I just got used to soaking them in steaming soapy water :) Good luck!
Ventaire by Playtex rock... they are cheap, conveinent and come in wide neck and regular as well as latex or silicone nipples. Both of my girls had Acid Reflux and this bottle helped with that as well. Good luck.
Our son drank from any bottle with no problem usually, but I know that he definitely drank the best from the Playtex Ventaire bottles. They have a few pieces to clean but compared to the Dr. Brown bottles it shouldn't be too much. It has the same air-flow control deal that helps reduce ingested air like the Dr. Brown, and our son spit up much less when using them versus the regular Gerber bottles. The nipple is around the same shape as the Dr. Brown bottles, too--we often had to buy replacements (we lost quite a few) and would buy the Dr. Brown nipples if they were out of the Playtex. Anyway, those are the bottles I'd suggest. I'd also NOT recommend starting the sippy cup just yet. Maybe introduce it a few times but there are dangers in trying to get a child to "grow up" too fast. I didn't show my son the sippy cup until he was around 8 or 9 months old and even then it was only at snacktime to introduce it--for meals he was still getting baby cereal and then a bottle afterwards. Anyway I've probably gone on much longer than you ever cared to read. Hope it helped!

Did you save the little "pipe cleaner" looking thingy that came with each Dr. Brown's bottle set? Those work wonders! If not, use a pipe cleaner like someone else suggested. I also soak mine in warm soapy water if I've let one sit too long (happens more times than I care to admit).
At this far in the game, why switch? I agree that you should just start introducing the sippy cup - one like the Nuby - so it's and easy flow at first. She'll get the hang of it in no time!

After 5 kids and different bottles, the best one is the most basic one, the Gerber bottle, especially for a baby your age who can hold and tip their own bottle. Better yet, I would suggest going to a training cup and just skip investing in more bottles. A bottle is just a tool to use before the cup. If a child can hold and tip it's bottle, then the bottle is no longer necessary. Time for a cup.

I'm not familiar with the Dr. Brown bottles, but I have a cleaning suggestion to try. My sister-in-law suggested pipe cleaners for the straws and valve assemblies in the cups for older kids, and they work like a dream. I now keep a pack in my kitchen for cleaning anything that's hard to reach...
I agree - skip to the sippy cup. I nursed for 9-12 months with each of my children and they never really liked bottles. They started and did well with sippy cups by 6 - 7 months. If your child isn't particularly attached now, take this time to make the switch so your child isn't more attached to the bottle later which would make it hard to switch at the suggested one year mark.
HI B., When my oldest was about 2 months old she was spitting up alot. At my Doctors suggestion we switched to playtex bottles. I loved them! You only have to sterlize the nipples once, using the drop in liners is easier than easy, there is less burping cause you control the amout of air, and if you have another baby all you have to do is buy new nipples and your good to go. I used them for all three of my girls and have recommeded them to everyone and anyone that asked over the years. Best wishes.
I have a 7 yo, but when he was using bottles, I think I tried every kind imaginable! The ones that worked best for us were the basic Gerber bottles. Fashionable? No. High tech? Nope. But they worked best for my son. Good luck!
