What Are Your Splurges?

Smart Mouth mouthwash. It works great! And Pinnacle Whipped vodka. That stuff is positively dangerous it's soooooooooo good!

I pay UP for better technology, but won't pay up for brand name.

I buy produce at a cheap Mexican or Korean markets, but won't buy the same produce at national brand stores. Example: yellow or brown onions were 8 lbs for $1 at the Mexican market and $.99 lb at the national brand store. Rice at the Korean store was 30 cents per pound, but at the national brand store, it was 75 cents per pound.

Paying more doesn't always mean you are getting more. Thomas Tusser (1524-1580) began the proverb "A fool and his money are soon parted". (No, I am not calling any one a fool, except those at our government that are spending us into disaster.)

Splurges?
I only buy Apple computers, but I keep them forever so it's not really a splurge. Ditto for our cars - new Hondas only - but again - we keep them forever. We currently drive an 01 Civic and an 02 CRV that we bought new.
I only buy clothing and household items that are on sale or on the clearance rack. We don't have a lot of extra cash and what we do have, we save.
My children have never wanted for anything but may have had to wait to get an item.
I guess our biggest splurge is my staying home with the children.

For the kiddo: California Baby tea tree & lavender bodywash; YoKids yogurt; Tom's toothpaste; North Face and Patagonia outerwear (expensive, but you can get good deals on sale); LL Bean backpacks (indestructible).

For me: Juice Beauty Green Apple eye cream; Josie Maran argan oil; Williams-Sonoma hand soap and lotion; great-quality sheets and towels (cheap ones aren't worth it); French sea salt.

wow, i struggle with splurging, bc dh does enough for both of us. This question is very interesting to me.

so i have to go with clorox wipes in the bathroooms too.

and i went with the $6 hallmark card for my mom today instead of the $5.50 one. living wild.

Smartwool socks for winter. They are cute and warm and I wear them until mid-April because we are cold until then.:)

Good beer. It's worth it. And it's only a $5 splurge, but the Chevremousse spreadable goat's cheese from Switzerland. Oh my, that is heaven on good bread or crackers, with some castelvetrano olives... For the lactose intolerant, it's an amazing option.

Well I totally love cascade dishwasher pods, they clean so awesome! I also have a tub of Lysol wipes in each restroom and in the kitchen. I use Stila make up which I love and my major guilty pleasure are paper plates! Totally keeps my dishes down to a dull roar, but when my kids are a bit older I plan to get more and more away from that practice, because I will have little dishwashing helpers!

Not much for me personally, but I love skin care products from DHC.

For DD (age 5), I love clothes from Gymboree and Hanna Andersson...they cost a lot more than stuff from Walmart, but they are way cuter, and they last, instead of falling apart after 3 washings.

DH likes his cigars, and occasionally splurges on more expensive beer instead of his usual cheap crappy beer.

As a family, it's Disney-based vacations - both Disney World and Disney cruises! Best family vacations ever!

for me: mac foundation, stila and mac makeup (eye shadows and lipstick)
purses: kate spade, burnerry
shoes: kate spade, stuart weitzman, burberry, chloe, fly london...
clothes: ann taylor, banana republic
winter stuff: the north face and under armour

my husband: tommy bahama tshirts and long sleeve shirts, the north face and under armour

my kids: everything under the sun.
for food we love fresh markets and whole foods (just for veggies and fruit).
so you could say we don't splurge as we always buy these things. i am convinced pay more get more. i could not walk on cheap shoes. i love comfort and sexiness.

Hapa:

My splurge? Well-made purses. I use them for several years and do not typically trade out each season or outfit like I used to!!

A good pair of Clarks shoes. High arches and comfortable.

Make-up? No splurges there. Use Mary Kay emollient cream. Foundation - no specific brand....

I only buy Crest or Colgate toothpaste and Oral-B toothbrushes.

Guess I'm not high-maintenance! :) LOL. No, not being mean. There is just nothing that I say I "must have" like that.... never tried bare minerals. so I don't know how great it is....

Oh gosh I could go on and on.
Foods-
Pink Hymalayen sea salt, Wildtree foods, store bought kombucha instead of making my own, expensive cheeses etc and paper products to save me from doing lots of dishes

Stuff-
Brand names outerwear - Kamik boots, North Face or Burton coats/snowpants etc..
Shoes - kids I spend round 50 bucks per pair. Me and DH closer to 80-100 per pair. Can't stand crappy shoes.
Health food store toothpaste, shampoo and soap, California Baby shampoos for kids.
Health food store vitamins and supplements

Oh and I splurge by having a house cleaner come 2 times per month. That is my best splurge!!

NutriBullet, organic food.

My must-haves are Clinique Even Better Foundation, Giovanni shampoo and conditioner and hair cuts at a kiddo salon for DD. She is too squirmy for me to even think of cutting her mane!

Bare minerals make up is mine too! I can't live with out. I'm still in quest for the perfect under eye cream. Gym shoes, I have 6 different pairs in use. I'm a runner so I alternate in between.

My personal care items such as Wen(hair), Urban Decay(makeup), Benefit(makeup). For kiddo we splurge on salon hair cuts (vs at home or kiddie cut places) because that is the ONLY person my sensory baby will let cut his hair. For Daddy a more expensive quality beer each month to break up the old standard. He likes a good beer or glass of wine with dinner - can't blame him for wanting a good one.
