What Are Your Favorite 'El Cheapo' Wipees?

I love the big boxes of Kirkland brand wipes... but since I'm not a Costco member, I have to wait until my mom goes and pray I have $30 for them. Pain in the butt! I love target brand diapers, I HATE THEIR WIPES. I'm hesitant to try other generic brands until I get some recommendations (like CVS or Food Lion)... and we go through them so often (I use them for everything!) that I can't bare to spend the money on name brand.

What are YOUR favorite generic brand wipees?

BTW... does anyone ever really stop buying wipees? My kids were 4 and 6 when my son was born, and we STILL had wipes in the house... I literally use them for EVERYTHING ;) They're the greatest!! I think that's why I'm so cost conscience and picky ;)

What can I do next?

We use Costco baby wipes...even though we are past diapers, I keep them in all the bathrooms for wiping post BMs, in the cars, RV, etc.

However, I have a few girlfriends who make their own with recipes found on google....I bet that is cheaper.

We still buy wipes and none of the kids are in diapers! We buy Baby Basics from Albertsons. We like them because they're thick and you get 5 packages in a box for less than 10 bucks!

Wipes are such a personal choice, aren't they? LOL

I don't know what Cosco wipes are comparable to... so I don't know exactly what types of wipes you prefer... I HATED Pampers and Huggies wipes. They were too thick and dry for my liking. I used and loved Walmart's Parent's Choice brand wipes. They were a little thinner, and moister (is that a word? More moist? Sorry, brain fart.)

Anyhow, I prefer Parent's Choice from Walmart.

I don't carry baby wipes anymore, but still faithfully carry Wet Ones wherever I go... moved to the Wet Ones since they are antibacterial, and since we don't have to use them for butts (much) anymore, I prefer these now. I have a canister in the car, a pack in my purse, etc.

I make my own for the grandkids and I also give them as a shower gift. I use Arbonne's all natural baby hair and body wash. It is much cheaper and you aren't getting all of those harmful chemicals and alcohol etc. I have several different combinations using the ABC baby lotion, wash and baby oil. These are always a big hit at the baby shower. I also like to use them myself and they are great for feminine use as well. If you are interested in making your own I am a consultant you can order directly from my site and I will give you the recipe to make them.

Have you tried making wipes at home? It's very easy and inexpensive. There are lots of recipes online, I prefer the ones that use baby oil or olive oil instead of baby lotion. It's more soluble in water and leaves my baby's skin more moisturized and soft.

When I do buy wipes, I love Babies R Us's store-brand wipes. They are not too flimsy or too wet, both things I can't stand in a wipe and they constantly have good sales or coupons on them.

My son turned out to be allergic to wipes... so MY favorite brand is SUPER cheap: Bounty or Brawny giant rolls of paper towels. Just run under hot water, wring out, voila!!! Warm wipes! Saved me tons of $ over the years since a roll of papertowels has a couple hundred sheets and is only $2. For on the go I just had a stack of pre separated paper towels in a ziplock with a bottle of water.

After a month of using wet paper towels I would NEVER go back to expensive prepackaged wipes again.

I also love the Kirkland brand and I'm not a Costco member. Did you know you can get Kirkland wipes and diapers on Diapers.com????
If you spend more than $50 it's free shipping (they arrive in 1 to 2 days!) and usually there's a code for 10% off your first order! It's awesome!!!! The prices are competitive with the regular stores, but with the "e-coupons" they offer and the free shipping, it's wonderful!

I love the Sam's Club brand! We also use them for everything. I even have a box on our dinning table!

I tried Walmart's Parent's Choice and they wouldn't pop out of the box. I was always digging for them. I didn't like them at all!

I always buy my wipes when I can get them dirt cheap via Amazon. Check out www.onlyamazondeals.com or some other "couponing" site - they post when there are good deals. I generally get Pampers wipes (which I LOVE) for dirt cheap w/free shipping! If you haven't done it yet, join Amazon Mom for perks like free shipping (free to join).

My favorites (in order)
Costco (defeats your question, but they are the best!!)
Sam's (don't like the way the top is, but the wipes are good)
Walmart (don't like how they don't come out easily. I just kept a box or bought a box then use the refills)

My kids are past diapers and I still buy them. Not as much as I used to, so buying from Costco hasn't been as economical for us anymore. They are the best, but I don't need to be looking at the same box for 5 months. I keep them everywhere. My husband has even started keeping a box in his truck (he does construction so you can imagine what the inside of his truck looks like).

As a side note, you can go into costco and buy gift cards for their store without a membership. When you have the extra money, you can get a gift card so all you have to do is give your mom the gift card.

I love my wipes too. :)
And stupid, stupid Walmart just discontinued making the wipes I LOVED. :(
They were the Organic Cotton Parents Choice ones. Soft and strong.
So I had to find replacements, and the ones made w/ the same material are the Sensitve Parents Choice ones. They are thin, but they don't rip.

I hate those thick wipes-I always rip them and they are too stiff for me. :)

I like the Sams Club brand (Members Mark) and they each have a lid that pops open and closed even though they are disposable bags.
The walmart brand is okay too (parents choice) but like Mommyof2boys said, they don't come out of the bag easily and that sucks!
I'd choose the Sams brand definitly! :o)

We are kind of in the same boat, we LOVE Berkley & Jenson (which is BJ's Wholesale Club generic brand). They pop up easily, transport beautifully, are not too thick, don't stick together and are just perfectly moist...however, we have to wait for my mom to go to BJ's to get them - we're not joining just to buy wipes every other month! I also hate Huggies & Pampers wipes!

I do home daycare (14 years) and have tried them all..and I always go back to my Huggies. Pampers are too slippery and all the generics don't "pop up"...or I end up using 2 instead of one (no cost saving there), or they tear too easily or leave residue on the child (or whoever is using them). I love them for all sorts of uses besides daycare diaper changing!

I now get my Huggies thru Amazon...with the "moms" discount thing...plus I do "subscribe and save" which gives me an additional discount. They just show up at my house every interval I set it to (and I can change that if I have a stockpile..4 weeks, 8 weeks, etc). This has turned out to be cheaper than buying the refill packs locally..and now I am saving the tubs and recycling for markers, crayons, glue sticks, etc..they stack nice and look uniform on my shelf.
