My nephew is three and I am getting him anything by Leap Frog. He has this Alphabet set by Leap Frog you put on the Frig and you put a letter on the little holder and it says the letter, and I think tells you the sound.. He loves it.. Big Lots had a lot of the educational toys so i am going there to see what they have.. Other than that Dora movies, or anything educational. Half Price books has many movies you can buy at a low price too.. Happy Shopping..

My kids are very close in age to yours. I am getting them a play kitchen. My son is totally in love with his Thomas the Tank Engine Train set so most of the family is getting him engines and accessories for that. If your son doesn't already have a train set, I highly recommend one. My daughter loves her Busy Ball Popper. I also got the some bath tub toys, a baby doll for the little one and a toy fire truck for my son. They love their xylophone too.

If you don't have a foam flip out sofa yet, I would get one. It's great for both ages. My daughter got one for her first birthday and we just had to replace my nieces on her fourth birthday because she had used it so much in the last couple of years. ToysRus has them with the Backyardigans on them if you need one that is unisex. Walmart has Dora and Disney Princess. (I don't recommend the ones with the sleeping bag built in. The bag causes the back to sit too high and they flip over backwards when the kids lean back.) I bought my nephew, who is 2, Tickle Me Elmo, he loves Elmo but doesn't have any Elmo toys; I'm not sure how he'll like it yet.

So far my almost 3 year old is getting an aquadoodle- these are pretty neat, and hot wheels- yes she loves them, along with a rug to drive her cars on. I am also getting her a play toolbox loaded with tools- she loves to "fix" things. But Santa is bringing the girly stuff, a new baby doll and a pram carriage. Does the 2 yo have a tricycle? My dd loves hers. As for the 8 month old- you can walk down the fisher price aisle and find lots of great things! Good luck, enjoy this time when they are at an easy to please age!

I'm struggling with this myself, because I have a 6yo boy who has recieved everything... So, I think that I'm going to get my 2.5 yo a piano keyboard.

Some of the things that I already have that are most popular at my house: Geotrax train set, Shake and go race track, lucky ducks game, whack a mole game, magnastix (these are the same as magnastix, but they are for under 3), mega blocks, the pop-up play hut that has a tunnel, dinosaurs, and hot wheels and matchbox cars.

How about some educational, quality handmade toys? I make toys that are perfect for kids your age, and I'm local! Cloth rattle balls are perfect for your 9 mth old and 2-5 year old. But I would also recommend I Spy Bags or bean bags for your 2.5 year old. My kids love them! I have had an online store for 3 years and have had lots of happy kids with my products, you can read the feedback!

Let me know if you have any questions.

My son turns 3 on Sunday. He's getting a full size bed to have a big boy room for Christmas and will be getting all the bedding. He'll get enough toys from grandparents.

The drop and roar dinosaur from fisher price is awesome! I bought one for my 13 month old girl. I'm thinking about the sit and spin zebra too. They have one in the church nursery, and she just loves it! Of course, it's for babies a little older than yours, but she can use it later on.
Really, anything fisher-price that is in age range of 9-12 months would be appropriate for her. Wal-mart has a great selection.
I don't have any boys, sorry, don't know what to tell you on that one. :)

Well, I second the fisher price horse/ zebra for the baby. Although if you wanted to wait and do it for a 1st b-day gift, it might be better, but the bouce and spin zebra is a huge hit around here...even my 2.5 year old still plays on it! My 2.5 yr old son is getting some matchbox type cars in a big semi truck carrier, and the little people race track looks pretty cute too! We are leaning towards tools again this year, we bought him several of the $5 tools last year at walmart, and he still loves them. I too am leaning towards a big wheel, but due to the weather, that may be a 3rd birthday gift. And, of course, the train table is a possibility too. I just want to spend that kind of money when I know he will really care about it, so I am not sure if this is the year for that? If we do get one, we will glue the tracks down for him, otherwise, we would have a big mess of tracks and a frustrated toddler most of the time. Just a few thoughts! (Oh, and my now 15 month old really loves the laugh and learn discovery home that she got last christmas. It has for sure been one of the few toys worth the money we spent..well grandma spent. All of my kids, and day care kids, still play with that toy..so funny to see which ones stay favorites, and which ones are in the closet!) Happy shopping! ~A.~

I gave my 3 year old nephew an aquadoodle last year (he was 2.5 then) and anything Thomas the Tank on his 3rd birthday. My daughter who will be 1 this Christmas is getting the Elmo and the Fisher Price horse with an accompanying DVD. These were voted the #2 and #1 toys by Parents magazine I think. Good luck.

We are getting our son a wagon if we can ever agree. I want the plastic radio flyer with the umbrella, cup holders, etc. My husband wants a metal old fashioned radio flyer with nothing fun. I have no clue what else I am going to get him.
