my daughter is currently in ballet/tap classes and pageants. no we do not use the ballet/tap classes for pageant talent its just for fun. i am thinking about asking my mil (who graciously pays for the ballet/tap classes) if she would put my daughter in a jazz class because her teacher thinks she would enjoy the faster paced class. here is a break down if our week-

It doesn't seem to me like your daughter is doing too much. She has a lot of play time at home and some fun activities to look forward to each week.

My son has preschool three mornings each week (finishing at 11:30). He has swimming lessons one afternoon, soccer practice one afternoon and soccer games on Saturdays. Each of those activities only takes up about one hour.

We also do a weekly playgroup one morning a week and random other playdates as they come up. Sometimes I feel like we're too busy and overscheduled, but then whenever we are just home for too many days in a row, we all go crazy. He is happy when he gets outside and has time to play at the park or the pool.

At age 4 my daughter had preschool 3 mornings a week, swimming twice a week for 30 mins, and dance once a week (IF there were enough kids to have a class), soccer twice a week, playdates at least twice a week.

Now that she's in kindergarten 5 days a week for 6 hours per day, we're scaling down the extra stuff to a regular saturday morning dance class and saving the swimming for closer to summer.

Well I teach preschool from home with my 3 year old and 3 other girls and when she turns 4 we are going to put her in gymnastics and maybe a simple art class at the rec center.

Everything is starting next week for us but this fall my 4 year old DD will be in preschool in the mornings Mon - Thurs (3 hours each day), cheerleading on Mondays (6 - 6:45pm), pee-wee soccer on Wed (6:30 - 7:30pm), gymnastics on Fri (10 - 10:45am), and swim lessons Sat (11 - 11:30am). Sounds like a lot, but each activity is once a week and between 30 minutes and an hour. She still is a daily napper and will still have the afternoons for napping, then playing the rest of the time. She has a lot of energy and loves being with other kids so I think it will be good for her, and it will give her a chance to try different things. She took the gymnastics last year and that is year-round, while the others are just through the fall - come winter we might try something else!

My four year old has school Tuesday through Friday. She will have a gymnastics class one day a week starting in November. She takes summer science and art classes. We live in a relatively rural area so she doesn't have a lot of options (basically dance/cheer is the only other thing available in the fall and winter and she isn't into that). The majority of her time is spent playing and painting.

I am getting ready to out my almost 4 year old into some gymnastic classes as well as performing arts classes! ( acting, singing) she loves to do both and I think that they will be perfect for her! I would ask your daughter what she would like to do and have her help with the choice! I find that my daughter will do something with more enthusiasm is she thinks it is her idea! Good luck! Oh by the way I was also in all of these classes as a 4 year old! I loved them!
