Weird Question About After Baby Clothing

Hi, I have a weird question. Do any of you moms know where to buy clothing that seems to cater to a larger chest? I have a D cup chest, but the rest of my body is between a size 6 and 8. It has been hard to find tops and dresses that cover my new after baby boobs, but that will fit to my mid section. I was a C cup before babies, and I have lost 15 lbs below what I was when I got pregnant, but I have kept the D cup. Basically, I am excited at the weight loss and big chest, but I would like to know if I could find a store that seems to cut their clothes a little larger on top. Also, can anyone recommend jeans they love that fit the hips without coming in too much at the waist band. I had twins, and I would love to find a brand of jeans that will fit my size 7 hips without pinching my waist to give the "muffin top" effect. Sorry if this stuff seems a little vain, I know many of you moms have real problems, but I can't find fashion magazines or info geared toward helping us moms find clothes that fit our VERY specific body needs.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I don't have a lot of time or money to be going to every store in creation trying on clothes. I have a list of places now I am going to try. I also thank you for the advice about bras.

I have a similiar issue - so far all I have found to work is trying everything on and if I find a top that works, I buy multiples in different colors. As for the jeans, I have found actually the target mossimo brand works well for me but I like them more for their length than anything else (i am 5'10).
Congrats on the weight loss :)

A good place to get clothes like that is from babystyle. They have an excellent line of post partum and nursing clothes that are made to fit moms like you. Their jeans have stretch to them and help you avoid that bulge on top from your not so tight skin in the midsection.... good luck!

You are describing my body, and my same issues! For basic t-shirts and casual shirts, I have found the Mossimo brand from Target works well for me. This season they seem to be longer too. For jeans, I have a pair of Jones New York that I got at Penney's and a pair of Stamp 10 from Kohl's that have worked well for me, and they are reasonably priced (for jeans). The best thing that has worked for me and shirts was getting new bras. I went to Dillards, got fitted (turns out I'm a 36D not a 38D), tried on several different kinds in my size and bought a few. It was an investment (next time I'll wait for a sale), but it has been worth it. I had always shied away from padded thinking that I didn't need to be any bigger, but it turns out padded actually gives more support and lift so I didn't have to go for the minimizer bra. My shirts fit better and look better on me, and I look like I've lost 10 pounds. And I agree with the other responses- you have to try everything on. I have become the queen of returns (because who has time to try things on in the store with 2 kids in tow!). Good luck, and if you find something that works for you- let the rest of us know too!

You should check out New York and Company. My mama friends and I love the place! They are having buy one get one 1/2 off right now too! They are always sending coupons in the mail as well. I have the larger chest and smaller waste and know exactly what you mean. Their Medium fits perfectly in shirts! Good Luck.

Have you tried Old Navy? I am not as small as you, but I have a very large chest after since having my 16 month old (DDD or F). I find there jeans and tops work well. I hope that helped a little bit.

It sounds like we have the same type of body. I am also wear a size 6-8, but have a 36 DDD chest (all natural, too). Let's not even mention that I wore a 36J while breastfeeding.... I was like a walking carnival sideshow during that time.
I usually don't have problems wearing tops in a size M in the misses section, as long as I wear a minimizing bra. If you are chesty, don't even think about going smaller than that. However, finding a cut that flatters my small waist is another story. You will have to try on everything, and look for tops in stretchable/breathable fabrics, like cotton. If you find something you like and looks good, get it in every color! I usually do well at JcPenney in the Misses section for tops. Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not even a consideration for me, although they might look good on you. If I were a D cup, I would have a field day with some of those cute summer tops and sundresses.
As for jeans... look for a mid-rize. It's the low cut jeans that make the overflowing tummy that is so extremely unflattering. You don't want high-rise jeans either (the kind that grandmas wear). I have had good success with Guess jeans. They can get a little pricey, but they are soooo worth it! They have room in the waist, and I get a ton of compliments when I wear them. People can't believe I had a baby 8 mos ago! Good luck!

My grandmother has this problem. She usually shops at the local Saturday market. Try the seamless bra from Victoria's secret (rather than one with underwire or padding). She also finds a lot of great clothes at Nordstrom. They are expensive, but if you find something that looks good, you can always get it cheaper on ebay. She also really loves Levis jeans. They don't pinch her waist or give her "overhang." ;) I found that Ralph Lauren makes great jeans that would fit the bill, as well.

Old Navy sweetheart cut jeans are a little gift from God. The rise isn't teeny bopper low, but not ridiculously high either. The ladies are right, old navy and target are good in transitional times. Affordable. Then if your body changes some more, you can afford to adjust a little until you level out. Accentuate the positive, right? Empire waist shows off the chest and falls away from the waist . I went from an A cup to a C when I was pregs and nursing. What a grand time that was for me! Makes we want to get pregnant again!

Well when it comes to finding jeans that fit right all I can recommend is trying on dozens of different styles until you find what your looking for. But I have the same problem with shirts and dresses not fitting me right because of my large breasts. I had this problem long before I had my son and Ive yet to find a clothing line for women with large tops and smaller bodies. Most dresses wont fit right unless there stretchy same goes with shirts. They're a blessing and a curse.

NOOOOO! It is not vain to want to look like motherhood has been a blessing instead of a curse. Children do not want a mom who has no identity or self worth. And "you go girl" for enjoying your body instead of hating it. I can only thank you for your post because I took shopping notes from the responses.
My only tips are to NOT go to Ann Taylor...have had really bad luck there and I do love my Land's end tankini swim suits.
P.S. you will love the movie Spanglish for its message.

I have the same problem you do. I can wear smaller clothes except they do not fit my chest. Have you tried Levis stretch jeans. I can wear those and not look too bad in them.
Sorry I am not a big help.

Oh no! You have the perfect Barbie body after twins!! AACCKK!!! ;-)
Just go to the mall, go to the stores, and try them on, that's why they have fitting rooms. Sorry, the don't make clothing stores to fit the "perfect body", I know, I tried to find it! LOL. But it's just a matter of trying, I shop at Banana Republic, and Express, and I have the same problem, larger boobs, small waist, and I have now hips now, but I can find everything I need in there. Just stay away from H&M, thay cater to "bean poles"! LOL
