Wondering if anyone can recommend a good at-home diamond ring cleaner. I never seem to make it back to the jeweler or to the mall often enough to have it cleaned. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My jeweler had me just buy straight ammonia. I cleaned out an old icing container and labeled it. I put my ring in at night and scrub with a tooth brush in the morning. My sister-in-law is a jeweler out of town and always comments on how clean my ring looks. Very inexpensive and very convenient.

Walmart sells a ring cleaner in a red plastic jar and it works great and is safe for everyday use. It only costs about $5.00. Good Luck!

I have used the toothpaste method. That works real well.

I also use a mixture of warm water, a small amount of liquid dish soap and vinegar. Smells horrible, but leaves your diamond(s) sparkling!!!

A jewler told me that the best thing to clean diamonds (not safe with all stones) is to use an old toothbrush and some dish detergent. It works like a charm! not to mention it is quick and inexpensive!

My Nana told me to put HOT water in a little dish and then put regular dish soap and stir it around and then leave your ring overnight and the next day gently scrub with a toothbrush and it will be good as new...I do it and it works wonders.

Whatever you do, do NOT use ammonia. Gold is a very porous metal. Anything too strong will actually be absorbed and eat away at the gold. I would recommend water and a mild soap.

I'd heard the toothpaste/brush method works, too.

I never know where to buy the stuff, but I think they are all pretty much the same. I use and old toothbrush and toothpaste. Actually recommended by a jeweler. Works great!

My jeweler recommended soaking my ring in Mr. Clean, the electric yellow kind. Get an extra soft bristle toothbrush to get around the stones. Rinse with water and dry it off with a soft cloth. It works really well.
