Weather Extremes . . .

What do you think is behind them, if anything?

We were just up in the NC mountains at my parents' place. For the first time, ever, it was HOT on top of the mountain! We have been going there for years and I never, ever remember it being that way. I packed sweatshirts and never put them on. It really surprised me.

Here in SoFla we have had very cold snaps the last couple of winters. We had to cut the heat on for the first time ever two winters ago, and I did again this past winter.

Is this cyclical, global warming, or a combo of factors? Your opinion? I'm really not sure . . . it's just something I notice.

What can I do next?

Yep--warmest year since they started keeping records, which, in the history of the Earth...is like a nanosecond ago.

However, the earth must be cared for. And I don't think enough people take that seriously enough.

Isn't it interesting so many of the Mampedia "scientists" disagree with the people educated and working in the field of science and global climate change.

The planet is warming, that is an undisputed fact.

The only thing up for debate is how much is a naturally occuring climate cycle and how much is human caused. I'm gonna go with the majority of people who actually spend their lives studying this stuff. If we are worsening the situation to any extent through our destructive habits why not change?

There are so MANY great reasons to get off the crude, limit plastic consumption and recycle any materials we can.

Why not start living like we'd like our kids to have grandkids?

I believe it's both natural and that we are accelerating the pattern by not taking care of this planet.

I am by no means a tree hugger, but I do recycle anything that I can. Want to start a compost in the back yard. But I do contribute to pollution as I refuse to get rid of my gas guzzler. So I try to make a difference in other areas.

I love what Bug wrote below.

I think that it's probably a combination. You can't discount the idea of global warming JUST because the earth's weather patterns naturally cycle through extremes... BUT I also don't believe it's purely human. We HAVE polluted the hell out of our planet, and with everything we are doing to the earth, while destroying it's means of repairing itself (how many rain forests have we lost now?)... That HAS to have some effect.

Of course, I'm no scientist... and I haven't really researched the topic... This is just my own layman's opinion. :)

I listen to the History Channel. According to them we have had a global warming and a Global Chilling over tghe last 2000 years.

Then there was the Global Chilling caused by the massive eruption of Krackatoa (Sp?) in 1815 or 1816. It spread volcanic ash all over the world and did so much to chill the world that 1816 was called the year of no summer in New England. B. Franklin's "Poor Richard's Alminac" was one of hundreds of such publications until 1816 when the feburary section was printed twice. Once in February and once titled July. That was the summer that wasn't and in Vermont they had winter weather just like the accidental duplication of February printed as July said. As a result the other alminacs died away.

The world has had many cycles of warm and cold in recorded hisory.

Good luck to you and yours.

We broke a mess but not all of the records from 1936. What does that say to you? At least to me it says we have this same shite in 1936! Kind of sounds cyclical to me.

Granted we need to take care of this planet better but all that global warming nonsense....

I have done everything I can afford to reduce my carbon footprint. Probably more than most of the people that are always crying global warming. What I won't do is pay 500+ a month for my electric so we can have pretty windmills all over the state! :(

What Kari F said. And, fwiw, I work in an office with a number of atmospheric scientists and meteorologists. Climate change is occurring (it's not called global warming because it affects difference regions differently). It's known by the vast, vast ,vast majority of reputable scientists to be exacerbated by human activity and pollution. What gets the climate change naysayers into a tizzy is that no one can say for certain how much is "natural" and how much caused by humans.

As regards the current weather, who can really say for certain what is going on? Is it likely that Climate change is resulting in more severe events? Probably. How much? Who knows?

You just can't count on prior patterns anymore.
We're just going to have to be more flexible and adaptable.

Global climate change is real and we are feeling it. 98% of Climate Scientists (experts) "believe in" it. If 98 out of 100 airline mechanics (experts) told you they thought the plane you were going to get on was likely to crash, would you get on it?? So yeah, there is "something" behind the weather we are having. Believe it.

I have read several articles that this has been the warmest year since they started recording the weather (that is national). The earth is warming and the polar ice caps are melting. I think the warming is a combination from humans and natural occurrence.

If we look to the past we see that the earth has constantly changed. It has gone from extreme heat to extreme cold. It seems to work in cycles. Humans don’t like to think that things can change so much that it would affect our daily lives but it certainly can.

it's part of the "circle of life" - it's cycles. We have had the ice age...we've had a lot of stuff in the millions of years the earth has been around.

What do I think is behind them? nothing but God.

Every seven years here in Northern VA - we get DEEP snow - 30+ inches. then we have little ups and downs - dry winter - wet winter...the last "big snow storm" was 2009......

Do I believe in Global Warming? No. I think it's a cycle...like El Nino...

cough...cough...chemtrails. Sorry to be a "conspirator" . Like in my post about the dying trees. I mean, it is a combination of things I'm sure, and yes our planet has changes. But I think by God's allowance there are manipulations being done by the elite. There is a lot on this subject.
