Anyone bought a Washer and Dryer lately? Just curious what you bought as we are in the market for both! :)

I have a Whirlpool top loader with the matching dryer. It works great. It wasn't overly expensive. I run it almost every day and I've never had a problem with it. The washer is 10 years old and the dryer is 8.
My mom has the GE top loading set and she loves them. I think her washer spins the clothes drier than mine, but hers is only 5 years old now and she doesn't use it like I use mine.
Both washers are as big as you can get without going with a top loader. They are both in standard sized washer housings that most laundry rooms are designed to hold. I won't get a front loader - my sister hates hers!

We bought the Whirlpool Duet Steam set about a year ago and I LOVE them! The best feature is the "enhanced touch-up" steam feature in the dryer for those "forgotten" loads of permanent press. The washer also has an 18-minute quick wash cycle and a sanitize cycle for towels/sheets.

we bought ours 7 years ago....the Kenmore Elite...I would've preferred a front loading one - but they were VERY expensive then and I had a 2 year old that liked to push the buttons...DOH!!!

My GF has the Front Loaders - in red - I don't remember the brand but she LOVES LOVES LOVE THEM!!!! They are 1.5 years old and are a dream...

The new ones were way too large for our small laundry room. I replaced the washer we bought 13 years ago. It was an Amana basic top loader that lasted through many years of heavy daily use. The central agitator seal deteriorated so one day when I did a load of laundry and went to the basement it was basically raining down there. Replacing that seal would mean taking the whole thing apart, and since it was 13 years old we decided to not fix it and get a new one.
We replaced it with a Whirlpool Duet Sport, a small front loader and also more affordable than most (something like $650 delivered from our local appliance store). Very happy with it, it never has more than 2.5 gallons of water in it at a time so even if something were to leak, it would not be the rainstorm the top loader created.

I am kind of disappointed in my front loader. I feel like it doesn't get the clothes very clean. We just bought it a couple of weeks ago and I am resigning myself to a decade of half washed clothes.

My inlaws have a Fisher and Paykel top loading set and I think it's amazing! I wish we had bought the same set.

I just replaced my old Maytag top load. At first I got a new Maytag top load (this year's version of what I had before). It was noisy, slow and horrible. I wish I had read the reviews about it before getting it. I went back to the store (I'm not sure if I can name the store on this site) and told them how horrible it is, and they replaced it with a new GE topload which I love. It is quiet, quick, has a great selection of cycles, spins the clothes very dry and does a very good job at getting the clothes clean. It was a very reasonable price, too. I highly recommend the GE.

The new GE requires the new High Effecience kind of detergent. I don't know what the difference is between it and the old "regular" kind of detergent. I hope someone here will fill me in.

Can you stand another vote for Whirlpool Duet? I bought a Duet washer about 4 or 5 years ago and LOVE it! Originally I didn't want a front-loader but the more I researched it the better it looked. So glad I changed my mind!

I just bought a Samsung dryer and have never been so happy. I have always had gas and decided that I'd like to do electric for a change. I put my clothes int he dryer and about 25 minutes later the dryer buzzer went off. The clothes were dry, jeans, dry, for real, really dry. With the gas dryer's I was lucky if they didn't run for at least an hour or even 2 sometimes.

I love my dryer. When I need a new washer I will go for Samsung again.
