I think you'll get much better results in pronounciation with Kalleigh. Kaleigh sounds like Kay-lee to me. Good luck!
My 2nd little girl is due in November and I need some help deciding on how to spell her name!
Her name is defiantly going to be Kali (Like Cali(fornia)) But I love the way I have it spelled now...Kalleigh. My mom on the other hand has a different opinion. She like it with one L (Kaleigh) See, I dont want her going through her whole life with people calling her Kay(lee) instead of Kalleigh. You can pronounce it either way...
So, with that in mind...Let's vote!
Kalleigh
Kaleigh
Or any other suggestions (not too common) will be appreciated!
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for responses!! I am so confused with this name. After all this, I finally came to the conclusion that Kali wasn't the name she was destined to have. My husband and I decided today that Kailey is the name we are going with. After all, she's not here yet and there's no birth certificate to sign quite yet. So, I really love the name Kailey and that's what it is.
Thanks again:)
I think you'll get much better results in pronounciation with Kalleigh. Kaleigh sounds like Kay-lee to me. Good luck!
I thinkg either way you spell it, people are going to mispronounce it. You could just name her Kealeigh (Key lee) and confuse people even more (LOL).
I vote Kaleigh, sorry, to me this looks more like the way you want it to sound, think of all the teachers trying to pronounce it. You don't want her to have to correct everybody all of her life. My name is C. & I always have to tell people how to spell it they want to spell it candice. It is really annoying, so much so that I've thought of going by my middle name, Elizabeth. Just something to think about.
I like Kali- Short, looks like the pronounciation, and cute.
Either way I think you will have people pronouncing it wrong, but with the two L's you might a tiny better chance of people saying...CAL..EEEE. The chance is probably so small though that it won't even matter. I would go with the one that you like the best. She will be your baby and you are the one who will be writing her name for EVERYTHING until she is old enough to do it herself so with what you truly like. Good luck and God bless!!
I agree with YOUR WAY!!! I would pronounce the one L like Kaylee. Keep the 2 L's!!! :) And I love the leigh at the end!!!
I like Kallie, as noted below a few times. Good luck!
Kalleigh or Callie or Calleigh - I think they would get you the pronounciation you want.
One L looks better.
Why not...Kaly, Kally, Callie, Kallie, Cally?
Either way, people will always put their spin on it and mispronounce it. My name is mispronounced on a regular basis.
Spell it how YOU want. No matter what anyone else thinks.
Any unusual spelling will most likely be mispronounced anyway. YOU are the mom. Spell it YOUR way.
Blessings,
P. <><
I agree with your Mom. One L looks prettier with eigh at the end!
I think you will have mispronounciations and misspellings with either one so go with whichever one YOU like.
Other interesting ways to spell it: Khalee,Khallie,Kallee...
Kallie/Callie are the most obvious ways to spell it and even tho its a "common spelling", it is not a common name. So if pronounciation is your biggest concern, I'd go with the easiest spelling.
I have a friend named Danielle. She is forever having to say "double ll" when someone writes her name whether it be for a government form or just a simple restuarant reservation.
Unique spellings are great until the child grows up and finds themself spelling their name for people 100 times a day. You would think Alexandra is a pretty easy name to spell yet I have to correct people all the time. For some odd reason, they always want to spell it Alexander. Do I look like a boy?!?? LOL.
The name you chose is pretty. I vote one L.
2 L's gets my vote too! When I look at it spelled both ways I think I would pronounce it Kaylee if I only saw one L. Make sense?? Good luck, I know moms are hard to convince, you should of heard the comments when we named our oldest Haylee, and did not spelly it Haley like they thought we schould...they got over it thought, and I love it! ~A.~
is there not a traditional name that you would consider instead? please? but if you must choose between those two names, please use two Ls or a phonetic spelling.
My daughter's best friend is named Kallie. No one ever calls her Kay Lee. I vote for two ll's whatever way you spell it.
I do not think your 2 ways will be pronounced the way you want. They BOTH look like "Kay Lee" to me.
"Callie" or "Kallie" will be pronounced the way you want.
I also like the "Kayleigh" that someone else mentioned. It is pretty long, though.
I think Kaleigh looks like Kay lee
I prefer it spelled with a c like Calley or Calleigh

I like the two L. It make it more unique. People put their own spin on it no matter what your name is.
To be fair I have not looked at the other votes, but like the Kali spelling. I wanted that for our daughter but my DH likes traditional names so that one was not even considered. Oh well.

I like one L but that's just me.
I like the 2 LL's, your first name listed.
I vote for 2 ll's. Spell it however you want to spell it is your daughter. My parent's weren't thrilled with the names I picked for both of my kids (Donovan and Makena), but now that they are here their names fit them.
I vote for Callie. I think that spelling would get pronounced properly more often and you can have two L's. Good Luck!!
As a teacher I would say that any of those spellings will have teachers and others calling her Kay-Lee. I think with this particular name, if you give it a different spelling, she's going to get the wrong pronunciation each year by new teachers and substitutes. My niece is pronounced kay-lee and spelled like the last one you give (kaleigh).
Kalee
Kaeleigh
caileigh
I hate to say it, but I agree with your mom on this one. I have two children (Rourke and Declan) and both of their names are mispronounced all the time. It is just a part of life. I would spell it with one L!
I like the 2 LL's HOWEVER, bear in mind she will always get called Kaylee with that spelling. I think it's great that you want a different name. Just bear in mind your DAUGHTER, not you, has to live with it for the rest of her life. I find it extremely annoying to constantly spell my name correctly (EY, not just Y) and I can't imagine how much more annoying it would be to have to correct the pronunciation too. I think if you really want her to be Kali you should spell it Kali. When I see either of your spellings I automatically think Kaylee.
Unfortunately, it does not matter how you speel her name, someone will still mispernounce it. My choice would be Kalleigh.
I have a friend who is named K'Leigh.
Kalleigh, though people will probably still say Kaylee. I love the name! Very pretty
If Ca-Lee is the most important thing to you, I'd go with two L's or a more traditional spelling. At least with two l's, the teacher is going to know something is up.
That said, as a teacher - I'd probably still call her Kaley - along with her classmates K'lea and Kayleigh and Kaleigh and all of the other moms who were trying to be different.
FWIW, I'm a Stefany who wrote Stephanie from fourth grade and legally changed it to PH IE later.

2 ll's it is for me! :)
Kalleigh looks more like it would be pronounced Callie. Other possible spellings could be:
Callie
Callee
Cally
Kallie
Kally
My son's name is Trenon and NO ONE ever gets it right. The closest they get is Trennon or Trinon. Oh well! My name is B. and was VERY popular in the 70s and no one spells mine right either! I guess unless you go with Ann, Jill, or Sue no one will ever say or spell the name correctly anyway! lol
Best luck with your new bundle of joy!
I would pronounce any of those spellings Kay-lee. Sorry...I would try a variation of Callie if you really want something different. Bear in mind that she will spend her life spelling her first name, though.
No matter what you pick it will be beautiful.
My neices name is Kallie. But, out of your 2 spellings, I like it with only 1 L.
I'd go with Kali. The other ways are confusing for me. Good Luck deciding.
I like the name but in all truth there will be people who mispronounce it. You while she is an infant will be correcting people and her as she gets older. On the Kaleigh spelling I wanted to point out the North Carolina city Raleigh which is pronounced like you want Cali. Try writing the spelling you like 100 times to see what comes to you. It's your child and as much as you love your Mother and want her approval somethings regarding our children are JUST FOR THE PARENTs to decide. Try directing her focus on being happy about having another grandchild to love. Best of life to you.
Ironically, one name on my short list of "if i ever have another girl" is Cali-- spelled just like that! There is no confusion with Cali, Kali, Callie, or Kallie... but your spellings do look like Kay-lee to me. There was a girl in my daughter's class named Kaylee spelled Kaleigh. There is no real distinction with 1 "L" or 2. So, here's the deal: spell it however you want to-- it is your child and your decision... but don't get upset when she is called Kaylee!! I think we often make naming our children way too complex, and when we look back on it, we can appreciate simplicity! Congrats on your new daughter.
BTW-- if you do go with Kayleigh (Kay-lee), prepare for her to be called "Kay"... I think it is precious, but some people don't like the nicknames.
I like Kalleigh as well.
Me and mom had the same argument over the spelling of my daughters name, Addysen, my mom like Addison (like the city), and I said no way. Although addysen has become a popular name I have yet to see anyone spell it the way we did.
You go with what you like she'll get over it...Mine did!!!
I think with 2 L's is better...I am having the same delema tho, I am planning on naming my first born (if a girl) Kallie pronounced Ka-Lee like california as well but do you think that people will read that name and prounounce it Kay(Lee)?
Hope I helped...Maybe you can help me :)
Hope you havent gotten this one yet but I like Kallee I think that looks so cute and you can see how to say it a little better.
