Vent: Comcast!

Anybody else out there seeing constant hikes in their comcast bill? Over the last several months they have raised my rate a couple bucks what seems like every other month, and this month it went up $5.00. No warning, no explanation. They're certainly not using the extra $ to bring me better service because I still have patchy service at peak hours.
Ok, so a question: What other company do you get your internet service from and do you like it? We have a cable modem and we get the limited basic since buying internet service without a cable subscription is an additional cost that equals what limited basic service is.

What can I do next?

We just switched to Comcast (Internet only). AT&T doesn't have service where we just moved to. Blah.. I'm so used to DSL and have never had issues with it. In the 6 DAYS we've had Comcast it has screwed up every single day. It runs slow and Netflix messes up. Not good for me since I'm an online college student. :-/ it's gonna be a LONG year...

My Comcrap (like that name) bill went up $40 on Friday! I called and tried to negotiate with them. At most they were going to take the $16.95 DVR box taken off for 6 months. Big deal!

I was told by another person that you have to call the cancellation department and threaten to leave for them to lower your bill for another 6 months to 1 year. BLEHCK!

We don't have any other options in our our neck of the woods. I HATE them.

I have comcast for my tv only, and yep, seems like it gets a little more expensive each month, it's ridiculous. They just did a ton of upgrading, and we are now paying the price.
I use ATT for my internet.

Don't know what options are out there we have Uverse and love it. No stupid rate hikes. Here your choices are Charter and Uverse if you want straight up cable and high speed. Charter sounds a bit like Comcast, don't miss them a bit. Started out at fifty a month, six months later it goes up to one hundred and ten. I call and tell them to stuff it, they lower it to fifty five. Lather rinse repeat. By the time I went to Uverse my bill was one hundred and forty.

We have U-Verse for TV & high speed internet and love it! Our bill has gone up perhaps $3-5 total in the 5 years we've been with them. We used to have dial up because we refused to pay the $80 per month that Comcast wanted just for internet for one computer.

Ohhhhh we divorced Comcrap too. We use DirectTv and AT&T for high speed. We are about to convert to Uverse for the whole thing.

Our bill went from $135 to $217 we also had the bundle. I called and the best they could do is lower it to $195. We've had AT&T which we liked before it kept freezing on us. I'm not too fond of any dish type because we would have to run visable cables through the house. We are stuck for now :/

No matter what service we use (newspapers subscriptions, phone, t.v., computers) we find they all "creep" up in price. So now we call and ask for a lower rate. If we don't get it, we say thanks and call back. Get another person, get another answer. Eventually we get a good deal for a certain number of months. We mark the calendar, call before the deal is up and ask for it to be extended. It almost always gets extended at the same price. My best to you.

Yes! Same thing here. We just cancelled it yesterday. Enough! We are staying with them for internet for the time being b/c we are going to be moving soon. When we move, we're going to get century link high speed internet and watch TV through our computer.
