My son is nearing his first birthday and following his docs rules has not had any dairy yet. We are going to start introducing milk to him on his birthday. I want him to have a cake but don't want to overwhelm his little system with eggs, milk, butter, etc. that are in traditional cakes. I would love if anybody had any sugestions for a vegan cake or ???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks mamas for your cake ideas. I baked the vegan chocolate cake from the all receipies site. I put their simple vanilla frosting on it and topped it with fresh strawberries. It was delicious and enjoyed by ALL.

Is there a Whole Foods near you? They make awesome vegan cakes. Or google on-line for a recipe and make your own. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's carry ingredients you would need like cake mixes that are vegan. As for the milk thing, my daughter was breat fed and on formula then went right to rice milk but consumes other dairy products like cheese and yogurt. She has tried cow milk but doesn't care for it.
Best of luck.

Jimbo's as a delicious vegan chocolate cake. If you have one near you or maybe even Whole Foods, it is worth the price - about 40 bucks). If you want to make your own. Sara Snow has a show on Discovery. I watched an episode where they made a chocolate vegan cake and she raved about it. Here is a link to the recipe: http://health.discovery.com/fansites/sara-snow/recipes/ve... If you make it, I'd love to hear what you thought!

I am not sure if they are Vegan or not, but try greencupcakes.com. The owners children go to the same school as our kids and they taste great. Her daughter daughter has allergies so she created cupcakes without all the things her daughter was allergic to. I think she told me that Gloria Jeans coffee store in the mall was selling them as well so you could do a taste test before you order. Both my children love them!

Three words... Chocolate Beet Cake. It was so incredibly good and you dont have to feel guilty letting him eat it. It was so moist and yummy! You probably don't want him to eat the frosting she has listed because it contains peanut butter, but you could just give him plain cake. Btw, I can't voich for her frosting either, I didn't have any tofu so I just whisked up some Very Vanilla Soy Milk, Peanut butter and some agave nector, it was very yummy! Tasted close to a peanut butter cup.
