I am pregnant with my 2nd. I'm considering a VBAC. I had a very easy c-section with my first and a super fast recovery so I am not opposed to a 2nd c- sect. But, just curious as to how many moms have had a VBAC and which way did you like better? Just trying to get all of the pros and cons so I can make my final decision.
I had 2 c sections and my next one (late next year) will be a VBA2C. I have looked at all the risks and me and my husband have both agreed that this will be the way we go unless the baby is in danger. After all the research I have done I would suggest a VBAC, but I also think you should look at the statistcs as well.

VBAC. :) I had a c-section first time, totally unexpected, and when I learned of all the risks and potential risks to future pregnancies and fertility, definitely leaned VBAC for second pregnancy. Did it and it went without a hitch. :) Plus, have to admit I had a little mama-pride for having done it that way, as opposed to surgery. :) Maybe that's just me... Now, I'm 2 months away from third baby and second VBAC! Whichever way you go, best wishes for a safe and easy delivery! God bless!

I had a C Section with my 1st and then had 2 VBACs. I would choose a vaginal birth over a csection every time. My 2nd birth, 1st vbac, was a long labor with an epideral but I was up and taking a shower with in a couple of hours of the delivery. My 3rd birth, 2nd vbac, was a very short water birth (in the hospital). Again I was up and moving around with little discomfort with in a couple of hours!
I do know that there is a greater chance of having complications with repeat c sections.
Good Luck and Many blessing!

I was in your situation too - heading for a VBAC. I think it's a great idea. My OBGYN told me that the one risk I should consider (mine were 16 mos part) was the my uterus could rupture - during delivery. AND if it was at a point too late for the C-section, then we'd have only a limited time (10min) to deliver before risking brain damage or worse to the baby. He was realistic in that this was extrememly unlikely, however, it swayed my decision. I'd ask about that risk when you talk to your Dr. Good luck and enjoy #2!

Hi C.,
I just wanted to add that when I was looking into a VBAC I read a physican's article that stated the risk was highest if the births were less than 24 months apart. I did opt for a repeat C but only because my births were less than 14 months apart.....I know the one posted about all the risks and such with hers being 16 months apart.....that is why. If my births were more than 24 months apart, I would definitely opt for the VBAC.

I had a VBAC almost 2 years ago. I always felt like I missed out when I had the C 11 years ago. The doc told me I had the option of another C if I wanted to but no big dangers were foreseen if I did want to proceed with a VBAC, I had no problems and very glad I did the VBAC.

I had a c-section and then a v-bac. Depending on WHY you had your c-section, I would recomend a v-bac.
Mine did NOT go as planned. The LABOR WAS GREAT! If you can labor in a tub, DO IT! I would have another v-bac in a instant if I was guarenteed the baby would be okay. The laboring in the tub made it soooooo easy!
My first did not come down. It was like she was stuck. So they took her c-section after 12 hours of labor and over 3 hours of pushing. (7#13oz.) Our second wouldn't come all the way down either. (9#2oz.) So they used the vacuum to get him to crown. Then it came off for the 3rd time (can't use it again because there is too high risk of brain damage after coming off more than 3 times....). I pushed his head out but then he got stuck. Shoulder distocia. When they finally got him out a couple minutes later, he wasn't breathing, no heartbeat, ect. They had to do cpr and ship him to another hospital that had a nicu. VERY HARD. They thought he had brain damage (either from the vaccum or from lack of oxygen, etc.) Turned out that he was fine. After they got him there and started poking him and hooking him up, he started screaming and was FINE! All that happened at the same time that our pastor got everyone out of bed at midnight to pray so we feel that God had more to do with him being okay than anything!
I know that c-sections have risks and complications too but because 2 of my babies wouldn't come down, the doc feels that my pelvis musn't be shaped quite right and I would have the same problem again. So, we are going to be having a c-section with this next one........
