My 3 year old was recently diagnosed w autism, my 6 year old has add, i have Multiple Sclerosis. I keep reading about the possible adverise nerologic effects of vaccinations and am now afraid to continue vaccinating my children including my 18 month old. so far he has no "problems" but am worried that shots may cause something to go wrong. he had his 18 month check-up today and i refused shots. They say that there is no evdience that vaccinations can cause autism/adhd/add/ms but with all of the problems i am starting to wonder. also my 6 year was colic. she screamed from 6 weeks old right after her first set of shots, untill she was about 4 months old. Is there anyone else that feels this way? They say the benifits outweigh the risks but i am starting to wonder, what if i continue the shots and the next child is worse than the first two? right now he is perfect and i would like to try to keep him that way

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have decided to not vaccinate. I have done research on the subject and i know its not often there are adverse effects but would rather not risk it. maybe when they are older i will vaccinate but gor now have decided to not. i just wonder why it is that people with vaccinated children feel threatened by this. if there kids are vaccinated why should they worry?

I did not vaccinate my kids. I am a physical therapist, i had many parents say to me "Everything was fine until that shot". Once I had 50 parents say that to me I decided I would wait or do it when they are old enough to decide themselves. I also worked with a woman who was a phd who worked with the CDC she had many reports come in from docs and parents and she did not vaccinate her own kids, that was enough for me. My kids are older now and my son is allergic to lots of things so I am very thankful I didn't. I also found out I have a genetic quirk in my inflammation gene that maybe passed on to my kids sooo I was thankful again. Good luck do whats best for you.

There is no scientific evidence AT ALL that vaccinations cause autism. None. The one study that did indicate that, was later proven to be fatally flawed and has been widely ridiculed in the scientific community. Unfortunately, in the era of the internet, the vaccine/autism thing has taken on a life of its own. It's an urban myth.

Bottom line - vaccinations save lives. You see women in Africa who walk for days to bring their babies to clinics for their vaccinations. This is because these women see firsthand, every day, what happens when babies aren't vaccinated. Why choose to live a third-world life when you have first-rate medical care available? Would you choose to drink lake water because you distrust our municipal water supply, too?

Hi J.,

I did not vaccinate my children. I saw the effects of the MMR on a sweet little girl. It turned this bright young lady into a slow learner almost overnight. I just recently went through an ordeal with a family friend that her husband had a neurological reaction to the MMR he received in boot camp. You can even go to wikipedia and they will tell you that the MMR causes ADEM. Acute Disseminated EncephaloMyelitis (ADEM) is an immune mediated disease of the brain. ADEM produces multiple inflammatory lesions in the brain and spinal cord.

I don't necessarily believe that the concept of vaccinations is wrong but there are sooo many toxic chemicals that are put into the vaccines that there is no way to know what they will contraindicate with or when. There are so many vaccines with multiple chemicals, the odds are higher than they used to be. When I was a little girl vaccines were preserved by refrigeration. Now they are preserved with chemicals.

I also believe that there are conditions that mimic autism and add/ADHD that can be reversed by the removal of synthetic chemicals. My daughter is living proof that I was poisoning her with our household chemicals and our bath and body products. Since we've detoxed she has no symptoms. I have a girlfriend in NC that has MS but has been symptom free for nine years....I was the sickly kid in and out of the hospital all of my life and the removal of chemicals from our home and bodies has been a blessed relief. My family simply doesn't get sick...

J., I'll be glad to talk and explain what I did and any details if you'd like. Just let me know.

There IS evidence that supports the dangers of vaccines. It is not published freely because of the huge lobby in our government of the pharmaceutical companies that make millions off of the drugs. Why are we sicker now than we were 100 years ago? When did Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and Lupus appear to be prominent "disorders?" Growing up I never knew anyone with cancer or MS. You can throw a rock and hit someone with it now! Did you know the American Cancer society only funds pharmaceuticals and administration, no research? We have created this pit and now we are blindly walking into it.

J., what ever you decide to do is your decision but please be informed. Ask other parents of autistic children. Rikki and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum EXCEPT with trusting your gut! I do think that working in a chiropractors office lends credibility. I am a patient and even I have seen miraculous recovery just by putting the body back the way God built it. I don't put anything manmade in my body unless I know I won't live to raise my children.

Mimi offered to talk. I'd take her up on that!

It would be nice to be able to blame someone or something when bad things happen.

Right now, you have the power to prevent something bad from happening to your child by vaccinating, and you also have the power to keep the "heard" more healthy for kids with damaged immune systems who are vulnerable to the deadly illnesses that are on the rise again. People have forgotton how horrible these deseases really are.

There is no evidence that vacines cause autsim. Scientific studies have to be replicated to be valad, and there has never been a single replicated study since the very first bomb shell a few years ago which has been totally discredited.

You are free to do what you want to, but there is just no evidence other than gut feelings, playboy bunny/actresses ideas and media based doctors opinions (doctors who have books to sell you.) Just be careful, you have heard a bunch of hooey based on hooey, so examine who has been saying what you think you have read and ask for the evidence.

I have two autistic children, and I would vaccinate them again. They were autistic before they got their shots, and they are not at all equipped to get measils, mumps, rubella, or whooping cough.

The diseases that have vaccines now were on the decline way before vaccines even came out. When the vaccines were availabe for polio and measles, the vaccines actually caused a surge in the diseases. Most people who get a vaccine will still get the disease when they come in contact with it. And that has been proven. Kids who get shots have a harder time fighting off illness because their systems have been compromised. If you have a facebook page I would look up Dr. Tenpenny and join her group. You can ask any questions and she and lots of well informed people will always answer you. She is said to be the most informed dr. on vaccines. And she is 100% against them. Don't let people guilt you into getting the vaccines. If they really believed that vaccines work, then why are they so afraid of the kids who aren't vaccinated? Doesn't make sense.

I do not vaccinate my kids and I appaude you for wanting more information on the issue. There is alot of information available if you take the time to look. Mercola.com is a good resource and there is many other online sites. You can also check out your local library. I have a book that I got a long time ago about vaccinations.... I will have to look for it but if I find it soon I will send you a message with the name and author of it. I never tell a parent NOT to immunize (because I don't) but always encourage any parent to do the research for yourself and make an informed decision about what is best for you and your family. It is not an easy thing to understand but it is worth taking the time to learn all you can about this for your child.
Also if you have a good chiropractor in your area that is a whole health/wellness chiropractor (not one who only treats neck and back injuries) you can ask to speak with them about immunizations. They are a great resource for information. Dr. Andrew Pamer (DC) is in the waterford PA area.... I don't think that is close to you but you could call and request they send you immunization information. I worked for his dad, uncle and worked with him in his cousins office so I know he is full of this information. And he is a dad himself so understands how important your childrens health and well being are to you. He could help you find the information you need. You could tell him Jess (who worked with him at Dr. Matt's office) told you to speak with him about this information on vaccines.
I personally believe that the risks outweigh the benefits and anyone who really researches this and understands how the body works usually agree.
I know it is tough to go against what a doctor or other parents tell you is what is right for your child but research and decide for yourself. Trust your instincts.
Hope this helps :)

Autism develops during the first trimester of pregnancy. There's nothing you can give your child once they are born that will give them autism. Exposure to German Measles (Rubella) during your first trimester has an increased occurrence of autism (so those who are skipping vaccinations have potential to harm other peoples kids by being vectors for passing the measles around to pregnant women). There's lots of information out there, but what ever you read, consider the source and what sort of medical degree they have that makes them an expert regarding vaccinations. Being an office manager to a chiropractor and charging $24.95 for a disk of info does not make for an expert as far as I'm concerned.

you don't have to eliminate the shots completely. just get them after the age of 3. statistics say autism sign show between 15 months and 2 years of age. i would give myself an extra year on top of that.
yes, i agree, vaccines are important, but there are too many of them being injected into our babies' bodies. one at a time 6 months in between, ask for the combo to be split and pay extra if needed. no one guarantees there are absolutely no chances for vaccines to be causing autism, they say there is no link...right now. i am wondering, and have always wondered, what about 10 years from now. will that link be found? and then what? sorry we didn't know to millions of parents and autistic children? will sorry be enough? not for me, and not for my kids.

you can not say all vaccines are bad.. you need to decide each on each shot.

I got most of the vaccines for my kids.. except chicken pox and Hep A.. I would have refused Hep B but it is included with the DPT shot.

I wait on the MMR shot till 2 or 3..

there is no proof that vaccines cause anything.. and to the poster below tath says wer are sicker than we were 100 years ago.. that is because people died of simple infections no one lived with these chronic diseases... we didnt have any treatment so people just died...

My suggestion is to do your research on both sides. My husband and I did and our final decision was to hold off on vaccinating our daughter until she is a little older. It is a personal and difficult decision. Research, and form your own opinion on the matter. That's all you can do. It's hard no matter what. I have 2 very close family members who both have sons with autism and neither one can honestly say they have a clue how this happened. I personally believe that no one knows...even the "experts". I don't understand how it is predominately boys either. I did hear once on a radio talk show that girls have a gene or something that blocks mercury to the brain and boys do not. Not sure if that is true or not but I suppose something to think about when giving them flu shots. Thoughts are with you.

I have chose no vaccinations for my children. I have seen children with things that I believe vaccinations gave them, i would rather be safe than sorry. My children have been healthy so far, and like you, want to keep it that way. I am just suspicious of shots and what are in them. I believe you have made a right choice...

I'm a chiropractic office manager too and while that does not qualify me to make a decision on anyone's health, I do know more than most people do about health and wellness. In making my own decision to not have my children vaccinated, I did observe my bosses' children, children of patients, and children of friends. The unvaccinated children were much healthier as a whole. I read The Sanctity of Human Blood (www.thedoctorwithin.com), and many other books and articles before making an informed decision. It always up to you but please read a lot so you feel secure in whatever decision you make, and don't base it off being scared either way or what any of us are telling you. Just note how many of us that have posted here have not done it..none of us seem scared of risks or diseases, like someone else said if vaccines are the saviors why are the ones who do it scared? You have some really good answers from brandy, Sally, and mimi, and a few others!

This is a very touchy subject and you will see that in your responses. Just be sure you do your research and talk to someone with a medical degree that knows what they are talking about. A chiropractor is NOT someone I would ask about this subject, just my opinion. I do vaccinate and will do so with our next child when we have him/her. I find it selfish of me to not protect my daughter from the diseases that vacciantions have helped maintain. I dont criticize others that choose not to vaccinate their kids though, because they did their research and have chosen what works best for them as a family. Follow your gut and everything will work out.
