Can anyone recommend a Used Furniture store in the Carrollton / Dallas area who will sell my Formal Dining Room Set for me. I spent a fortune on it and since I am moving into an apt. don't have the need for it. I checked the consigment store but they will sell it for less then half the price.

What can I do next?

Have you tried the new & used consignment store on Montfort and Beltline? We have bought several pieces from them but I don't know how they sell for people. What is the brand and how much are you asking - just in case I hear of someone?
Good Luck!

I don't have a store recommendation, but my husband found out how some Craigslist ads have those multiple big photos.

Here are directions:

Also, I have purchased furniture on eBay. It was listed as a local pick up only. With searchtempest.com or someone looking directly (amazingly some people still don't think about craigslist, that might bring you some interest).

You could try craigslist. It's hard to sell used furniture for a decent price, but if it's a name brand (ie: Ethan Allen) you might have some luck. Especially if you offer delivery.

There are a million baby boomers that are downsizing and selling furniture right now, so the market is flooded. Additionally, furniture stores have lowered their prices.

Good luck! Perhaps you could pass it down to one of your children?

You are better off putting it on Craig's List or Ebay. Consignment places are not going to sell it for anywhere near what you paid for it.

they do estate sales etc too. worth checking into. all you have to do is make an appt to bring it in and they do the rest, giving you a % of the cost.

I think different consignment stores will have different terms, as far as the amount that they take and the amount they pay you. I know that is the case with clothing consignment stores. You might call around to different ones - I know there are several in Dallas, but I don't know the names of any of them - sorry. I do know they will set the price based on what they think it will sell for, used, so you won't get anything like the amount you paid for it.

Another option would be to sell it on Craigslist. That way, you set the price and you keep all the money. I have only used Craigslist once, to sell a huge Christmas tree. It sold very quickly. I just read through ads for similar items before I wrote my ad. I made sure to mention that it was pick-up only - no delivery.

yes I agree. you just need to list it on Craigslist to get the best price. Although, since it is USED and no longer brand new, you will not get the same price that you paid for it - so don't expect that.

One more vote for Craigslist. If you want to sell it fast, look to see if there is anything similar for sell and price your item lower than the other postings. Also, post on the weekends, it will move much quicker. I buy and sell on craigslist quite a bit and have had good experiences.

I would list on Craigslist. www.craigslist.com this is an online store that will market it to people in your area. I have had several friends use this and have been very successful.

List it on www.craigslist.org and put a picture on there. Be careful of scams, but we've sold alot on the site.

I would use Craigslist. It has worked out well in the past for us.
