Little Girl Clothes Coming Out the You Know What..... What Should I Do with Them

Hello Mamas,

I have so many little girl clothes (mostly newborn to 12 months) it is not even funny. I am wanting to get rid of a lot of them. I have tried the garage sale thing before, but it is way to hot where I live to be sitting outside all day. What do you do with all of your childrens clothes? All of the clothes are in excellent condition, some still have the tags on them. They are all from the Children's Place, Gymboree, or Target. Where would I get the best deal to sell or trade these clothes? I would rather not donate at this point due to the fact I have two little girls growing like crazy. So I actually need to buy new clothes. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Is there a good consignement/resale store near you? I consign a lot of my little girls clothes- if they are in good shape or have tags on they usually do well.

Divine Consign is coming up in August in Plano and there's one in Grapevine in September. It is for fall and winter stuff. (They will have another in the spring.) The only bad thing is they limit the baby clothes in those sizes because they don't sell very well. Most people get a ton of them at their baby showers and don't need them. The website is divineconsign.net if you are interested. I have been putting stuff in their sale for a couple years now. There are lots of other great consignment sales in the area but I haven't put stuff in any of them. Just Between Friends is another one at jbfsale.com.

I consign with 'Just between friends' (http://www.jbfsale.com). They have them all over the metroplex, but Fort Worth is the biggest. I usually make enough in consignment to buy the next 'block' of clothes. For example, sell all the 0-12mo clothes in order to buy the 12-24mo clothes.

Have you heard of ThredUp.com? It's a site for swapping kids clothes. Might be perfect for you! I've picked a box but not yet listed one. The stuff I received was wonderful!

Just Between Friends is a twice a year consignment sale. They are all over the country, just google "Just Between Friends consignment" and it will bring up their page. They seem to be in Texas as well. I do this sale near me everytime. The part that stinks? They take a percentage of your profit. The great thing? I can sell my clothes for 3-4 times the price that I can at a garage sale and those clothes seem to sell better. They also take toys, shoes, blankets, kid electronics, books, nursery bedding, etc. Good luck!

You sound like me with my little guy's things ; ) The ones that are stained or for some reason I don't want to charge someone for I list on Craigslist as "FREE Baby Clothes" etc., with my address and state that they are in a bag or box in front of the house. This way i'm not bothered by anyone at my door and the clothes are usually gone within an hour or two.

For swapping clothes try "Thred Up," www.thredup.com where you can swap gently used clothes, you pay $5 and shipping of $10.95 per box (which they provide.) I love the site and have gotten some great boxes of clothes : )

I give them away, to others who have kids/babies that age, and need them.

They in turn, (I tell them), do not have to return it to me, but just give it to someone else who needs it, as well.
It is 'recycling.'

I sold a lot of my clothes at Kid to Kid, I would call before you take clothes up to make sure what season they are buying...at the time I sold they were buying all seasons. Also they told me they will not buy onesies so I would keep that in mind. Good luck :)

I've been reselling most of the clothes. I've also been giving some things away.

Do you have any 2nd hand stores that buy the clothes? Is it too late to return the clothes with tags and get store credits?

I just sold a bunch of my little boy clothes from 0-6 months on eBay. I sold 45 pieces for $36 free shipping. I probably could have sold them for more but I didn't. I think I made $13 on them. I looked and found people selling their baby clothes for a lot more. If you don't have an eBay account, you can set one up easily and set up a paypal account too. They can pay you directly from ebay to pay pal and you can transfer the money into your bank account. Good luck!

Once Upon a Child. They will pay you on the spot. You can find lots of cute new sizes there, too. I know there's one in Flower Mound, and they have other locations as well.

check out "thred up"- it is a website where you can exchange baby clothes with other parents for just the cost of shipping. It is pretty darn cool! - you could trad and get larger clothes that your kids can fit into as they get older.

hehehe-- someone else seems to have mentioned the same thing already...

Diitto on the consignment sales. Try Just Between Friends and/or Divine Congsign. snce you are looking for money to buy new clothes, you can get more doing consignment sales than the reslae stores, especially for the name brand items like Gymboree and Children's Place.

I'm with the other Tredup Moms. I hate having a yard sale and don't have time to worry with ebay and craigslist, plus I live in a very rural area and don't have internet at home. I have sent many boxes stuffed full of clothes on thredup and have received many also. A couple have been disappointing, but most have been way above what I could have ever bought for the $15.95 you pay. I don't get any money from it, but with good reviews from 'buyers' you get discounts on boxes you pick and for every box sent, you get to pick one

Look for a good local consignment shop. There are usually several. Look around in the store to see if they have things you might want for your girls. If they do, then that is probably the place you will get the most bang for your buck, as most consignment shops give you more credit than cash for the same item.

RHEA LANA is a consignment sale that is held 2 times a year in different parts of the country. There is one in September in Mansfield. You would sell your fall/winter items at that one and then sell your Spring/Summer ones next February or March. All you do is get the clothes ready according to their rules ... take them to the sale place at the designated time and they will sell them for you. Go to rhealana.com to find out where and when there will be one in your area. Good luck!

Consignment store, or Craig's List, or Ebay. Also, our school district does periodic Mom-To-Mom sales, where you can try to swap the clothes for other clothes, or something else.

My suggestion is divide the clothing into two. Spring/Summer, and Fall/winter. Then go onto the JBF website at http://dallas.jbfsale.com/pages/home. This consignment you tag your own stuff at your price and can decide to let your stuff sell for half price the last day of the sale. It is well worth the effort. You get more bang for your buck and you don't have to deal with the garage salers and their bargaining. It is some work so I would suggest, if you decide to go this route, to start now and order a tagging gun. That will be your best friend in all of this. I just noticed that you live in Denton and may want to do the Plano JBF here is that website...http://plano.jbfsale.com/pages/home
Good Luck! PM me if you have any other questions.

Consignment, ebay, craigslist would be some good places. Around here there is a consignment sale that is called Just Between Friends and people I know have had good luck with them, or there is Once Upon a Child. Another way you can do a garage sale is do it as an indoor one and post it like crazy on craiglist, I did that last year and it worked out great because the weekend that I was doing it, it was cold and raining out. There is also ebay classified that is free listings.

I love and adore the Three Sisters Consignment sale. They have it twice a year near lake highlands. It might be a drive but I get nearly 100% of my baby stuff there and I am very excited to consign for the first time this fall. I know it might be a wait, I think the next one is in October. No joke, I count down the days until this sale.
