Hello,
I'm really tired of my belly bulging out. I work out eat the right foods and still it's taking forever for my stomach and love handles to go away. Can anybody tell me something that has worked for them? Do you believe in taking fat burners from GNC?

Thanks.

What can I do next?

Since I stopped eating wheat and gluten I've seen a big reduction in my belly. I've never been tested for a gluten allergy but I do know from my research that most people have an intolerance to gluten and just don't know it. I really feel much better too even though I didn't think I felt bad before.

I really have tended to stay away from a lot of weight loss or fat burner products on the the market as I just don't have the cash to experiment with.

I have probably the lowest metabolism rate on earth I sometimes think. I have been struggling with losing about 70 pounds that I gained in the 90's during a bout with some depression and the related drug therapies, which cause weight gain.

What has worked for me over time is watching what I eat and ramping up my metabolism by exercising. You can focus your exercises to target specific body areas more than others, which will help to strength and tone muscles in that area. There really is no such thing as targeting an area for weight loss, our bodies lose weight all over our bodies gradually.

I am losing weight, but its a slow process for the lasting weight loss. Any quick losses usually come back over time, but the fat I've lost slowly with gradual life style changes has stayed off.

When exercising, target large muscle groups and then work in smaller muscle groups, but remember that your body works as a whole and all muscles are used when you work-out, just some more than others at times.

Think of opposing muscle exercises as well. In other words, not only can you work your abs by doing crunches, but also strengthening your back requires your abs to get stronger too. Stronger means tighter, longer and leaner which helps to work out the paunch.

Work-out at least 30 minutes every day, alternate each day with different routines. I'd suggest working with free-weights one day and then switching to pure aerobics the next day and back and forth. Watch your breathing, just deeper breathing helps to strengthen your abs.

Most importantly, give yourself some time. Give yourself a couple months or more of solid work at this with diet and exercise until you start looking for big results. I think the biggest struggle I have had over the years is getting discouraged and giving up simply because my expectations were too high and my patience too short. I'm wiser now and having better results and having an easier time integrating changes into a lifestyle pattern.

Go online and look up "abdominal exercises" and also maybe join a local gym and get a personal trainer to learn the proper form (which is vitally important) for using free weights and body building machines.

Most importantly, contrary to most women's belief, working out with weights will not turn you into a hulk. Our bodies are engineered to not get that they, no matter how hard we work out. I know this also as I used to weight train long ago as a serious sport and I wanted to bulk up -- but it takes real concentrated effort and extreme diet, hours of working out each day to get a muscular look. Its an old social myth that too many women believe.

Work out, eat well, be patient and you'll see results.

HI S.,
SOunds like you are doing the right things. HOwever... are you truely eating prpoerly? Are you hydrated enough? To keep you metabolism up you want to eat every 2/3 hours... NOT a huge meal... smaller meals threwout the day. Also look at the ingredients. You would be surprised at the hiden fats and sugars. Also, what are you doing as a workout routine? The same routine each week? You need to create muscle confusion to keep your body working at burning the fat as well. Keep a food diary too. There are so many things you could do to help get you to your goal. Are you working out at home? A gym? Ever tought of a personal trainer? Best of luck to you!As for fat burners... I get them threw affordablesupplements.com they have the best price. You have to be careful though... they can make you jittery if you are sensative to caffine. Also the doseage is usually set at a mans weight and not a womaens so start out with just one capsule if you go that route. Curious as to where you live... ashland? framingham?

Tighten it up by doing a combination of cardio, strenght and especially, core exercises. Not sure what core it... go to a pilates or yoga class. And contract your core or belly while sitting, don't slump. It works.

I'm sorry you're struggling. I know it can be frustrating, but please don't resort to pills or kitschy gimmicks. These things just don't work. You waste your money and get nothing out of it.

Loosing weight is a formula: Energy IN - Energy OUT = weight loss or gain.

Check out some of my favorite sites re: nutrition and portion control:

http://theportionplate.com/

http://www.aicr.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pub_nap_inde...

The first one is The Portion Plate. You don't have to buy it, but look at the web site, read about it, then use a smaller plate from home to cut your portion size down.
The second one is the American Institute for Cancer Research. Their "New American Plate" dietary recommendations are wonderful.

Look to incorporate more whole foods - fruits, vegetables and lean protein. Think... "Protein, produce" if your meal doesn't fit into that category, think of how you can change it.

Of course that's just half the equation. You need to get out every day and get 30 minutes of vigorous exercise. Walking will do wonders. But you have to walk with a purpose - not a stroll.

Just these two things, tweaking your food intake a bit and vigorous exercise each day - you'll see a difference quickly.

Good luck to you.

there is this thing that Brooke Burke (dancing with the stars contestant) sells. It is a tummy wrap that helps with new mommy belly problems. You can probably google it. It looked like it might help.

I am slightly afraid of all those pills that promise to give you a miracle body. What on earth is in them anyway. What really worked for me - as cheesy as this might sound - is the Mari Windsor Pilates DVD. It is a 20-minute workout that really works. At least, it does for me and all three of my sisters. I do it 3 time a week and I have honestly seen results, esp. much better definition in my thighs and stomach. I haven't seen any ads on TV for it lately but you could probably find it online.

I have released 27lbs. and 34" in less than 3 months. Nutritional cleansing gets to the root of the problem. The toxins that we breath in, eat, and drink are present in our bodies and build up over time. The fat cells adhere to these toxins to protect the inner body.
When we release these toxins through cleansing, the fat cells are released as a result.
This is NOT a diet, but a cleanse. I have tried EVERY DIET and PILL out there-believe me.
This really targets the problem. The inches that you lose and the energy that you get back as a result are AMAZING.
I can give you more information. Get ready to get your health restored and have energy plus....and release that fat.

There is a fantastic weight management program that targets belly fat. It's called transitions. Even if you feel that you are eating right and don't need to lose weight, this might just be the tweek you need. I also like the Slim in 6 video. That also targets the belly for us moms. I did transitions and lost 5 inches on my waist and then started the slim in 6 and lost another 2. If you would like more info on transitions let me know.
