Hello Moms, I recently moved in my house about a year ago, My children and I were homeless for about two years. I'm trying to find some type of organization that will help get me toys for my boys for christmas. With Economy looking the way it is today , I find it hard to provide for my children what they want except for bare neccesities. Is there anyone out there with a kind heart who can help me? I'm only asking because I'm expecting another child on the way and I want to make my children smile this hoilday season . I mean to me thats more important than anything.

What can I do next?

Toys For Tots, Operation Christmas Child, a social worker(if you have one), local churches, and Salvation Army have toy drives. You need to fill out an application and provide documentation that you are eligible. (I know it seems nosy, but many scammers show up these things.)

I agree with the other answers. Also, if you have a car, craigslist, freecycle, yard sales, and thrift shops are awesome. If you have the time to look, you can find lots of good stuff. Also, stop stressing about what you will buy for your kids and focus on being happy together as a family. Do free holiday stuff like walking around looking at lights, make cookies, make gifts for eachother, sing Christmas carols. That is what they will remember when they grow up, not what toys they got.

You can try www.freecycle.org. They are all local to whatever area you live in. You can request things that you are looking for. I know that we did Christmas presents for a little boy & girl a couple years ago. Check it out and they may be able to help you. Good luck to you.

Here's the link to the Toys for Tots "Request a Toy" page. You enter your state and then your county/location and they will give you the contact to call about getting a toy for each kid.

How old are your boys. I am looking to donate some gently used toys and would be more than willing to give you some things if they are age appropriate. If you want to message me that would be fine.

In addition to all the other great suggestions you've received, you could also check out Family Support Services....they can help with more than just toys.....

Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army give out toys for Christmas. If your children are of school age, you can speak with the principal or guidance counselor as schools often collect items for Christmas. Churches also collect toys for Christmas and give them to families.

This may sound wierd, but if you don't mind gently used things, i bet if you put an add on craigs list or something, may people would donate some items to you. I know if there was someone in need, that i would gladly give some toys to kids that need them. How old are your boys?

sorry if this posts twice, it doesn't look like it took it the first time though.

look in to your local churches and/or ministry programs, many of them do gift-giving drives at christmas. you can also check with foodbanks, many of those offer gifts to families that are eligible to receive from the foodbank. some schools also adopt families at the holidays, and you can also check with social services. they can give you names of programs that offer gift assistance, or submit your family to programs that they work with directly.
