Hi All,

My daughter is having triplets (we thought she was having twins until her second U/S) so now she needs 3 safe carseats (as small as possible) to fit across the back seat. She will need a triplet stroller also. Any advice would be GREAT including any multiple birth advice :)

BLESSINGS TO ALL AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS :) K.

What can I do next?

Infant child carriers are all the same as far as width goes so they might not fit 3 in the row with the bases if she has a small car. Sinshine Radian makes convertable(that do not have a handle) that you can fit 3 in the row. They are not cheap but they will be the only car seat she will ever need. As far as tripple strollers go, Peg Perego makes great ones that you can find reasonable priced on Craigslist. Best wishes to your daughter( having triplets was my dream since I was little :).... was not ment to be )

I have advice about a stroller. Some moms like to get a double and then ALWAYS carry the extra baby. That option is not for me (and I am big into carrying babies and baby wearing, but sometimes I need to not carry anybody particularly if it is likely I am going to have to pick up another child). I own a PEG PEREGO TRIPLETTE and I love it. It is super sturdy and steers amazingly with ONE hand! You can get them 2nd hand or can buy one new and resale it for quite a bit. Actually they last so well you can resale the 2nd hand one! There is a much cheaper triple on the market that folds in one piece, but I have heard moms of triplets say that the babies didn't fit in well once they reached 10 mo.old. Plus the cheap triple doesn't hold up. The PEG's seats fit kids until they are about 4. Best wishes.

I know that Babies R Us has a multiples discount on carseats, strollers and stuff like that. I'm not sure how big a discount it is.

Roses' a store where I live sale great small car seats. They do not have handles which some do not like. But I found the seat was easier to carry that way and with out the handle they were not a big and you have more room in the car. On the stroller look on the web also thrift stores. A baby one here has one. Just if the store is not one that makes sure they are no recalls on it look it up for yourself. On the advice make sure she has helping hands for awhile till the little ones get set into their routines. I wish you all the best, and way to go to mommy.

I am not sure if they have it in the Knoxville area, but in MO they have a Mothers of Multiples group. I would check with the local hospital or online to see if there are any multiples groups. If there are none in your area, you could possibly tap into another group a little farther away.
God Bless and Good Luck.

Congrats!

I am by no means an expert, but just having had my second child a week ago, I have recently done alot of carseat research!! This was my crazy version of nesting, I suppose!! :-)

There were two carseats that ranked very well with Consumer Report..the SnugRide (by Graco) and the KeyFit (by Chicco). When your daughter starts to shop, she will find that both of these brands make a bigger carseat that goes up to 30/32lbs (SnugRide 32 & KetFit 30). I DO NOT suggest those for you...they are bigger/heavier and since the triplets will probably be smaller than average, I doubt you will have the issue of them growing out of them before age 1. If you go with Graco, watch out for the seats that don't have a harness adjustment strap in the front (between the legs). I was surprised that many of the less expensive ones (all from Target!) sacrificed this feature and adjusting the straps from behind is a big pain ('times three' for you!!!)

Whatever you go with, remember they will not be able to use this infant carseat after they are 22lbs, although most people told me their kids grew out of them lengthwise first. In other words, you will need to get them a front-facing carseat sometime around 1 year (they now recommend rear facing as long as possible). Regardless, you may want to go cheap now & save your $$$ to invest in better convertable carseats since they will use these for a couple of years.

PS- The Graco "Safeseat" is the same thing as they Graco SnugRide 32...I called the company to ask and they are phasing out the safeseat name and replacing it with the snugride 32. I talked to a few moms who felt they had to go with the "Safeseat" because it was safer, but it really is not.

Goodluck!!
