Anyone with the Graco Snug Ride Infant Seat?

I saw the consumer report on infant car seats. I know they ended up retracting the story but I still was impressed with the rating of Graco snug ride. I was wondering if anyone who has this seat can let me know how they like it. I also read that it is not the easiest seat to operate. Has anyone had problems with it?

What can I do next?

I am going to agree with everything everyone else said - I LOVE it! We have the Graco travel system. It has been wonderful and so easy to use. We really like the Graco things and they reported to do well on various reports and such.

Good luck!

I have the Graco Snug ride. I love it and haven't had any problems with it. I think it's easy to operate. And I love that they make other items that work with it, for example, I have the car bases, stroller and travel swing. I can click my snug ride car seat right into them. It's so great for when my daughter has fallen asleep in the swing - I just unclick the car seat from the swing and carry her to the car or click the seat into the stroller without waking her. I've been very pleased with this product so far. I really like Graco products. I have lots of them and they are all working out great.

We have it, love it, and it is very user friendly. The bases are super easy to put in and take out and the carrier just snaps right it. I couldn't imagine anything easier and I too like that it was so highly rated, even though that particular study may have been a little skewed it did still come in first, right? Good luck!

I have the snug ride and I love it. I think that it is really easy to operate...I am not sure how one could describe it as difficult?!? I love the fact that I can just snap it into a base that sits in our car. We use the belts to fasten it into our Explorer and it is also really easy to do. It is safe...feeels really solid. Our LO is 7 months and while she is still under the height and weight limits, we will probably need to switch her soon...but more due to the fact that we can't lift her than her not fitting!

One thing that I do wish is that we had not gotten the travel system...even though we got the lighter stroller (Metrolite) we are still looking to get something more compact (Maclaren) once we switch her to a convertable car seat (Britax Marathon). I do wish that we had gotten just the car seat, bases and the snap-n-go stroller that just holds the car seat.

If you've already purchased them, they're great. Very safe, but a little difficult to install. You can make sure that they're installed properly by taking them to your local state trooper's office. I had a state trooper help me get them installed (I had two for my twin sons) and he also registered them with the state.

You might want to spend an extra $40 for a second base and have that installed in your spouse's or parent's car as well. That way, you don't have to mess with installing them each time. You can just pop the car seat in and out. You can also purchase the matching stroller and likewise, can pop the car seat in and out of the stroller.

If you haven't purchased a car seat yet, here's the downside on the Snug Ride - My twins will be one year old on Saturday, Feb 23rd and they have already outgrown the Snug Ride (over 20 lbs and 1 year old). So I just had to invest in new car seats that will last until they are 5 or 50 lbs. They would have worked for my infant twins, too. They are both forward- and rear-facing car seats. They're $130 each. Very pricey, but not when they last 5 years vs. one year. Evenflo makes them. They're a little bigger, so make sure they'll fit in your car. They do not fit into a stroller, though.

Good luck!

I used it for both my boys and loved it. We had 2 bases so it was easy to pop in and out of either car. Someone else mentioned the downside is that they outgrow it quickly... this also happened with my kids. By 4 months my boys had reached the height limit, although they still fit pretty comfortably in it until they were 6 months old. (My sister had an Eddie Bauer infant carseat, and her daughter - same age and size as my son - was able to use it until she was 1 year old.) Anyway, it's a great car seat for an infant.

We bought the Snug ride and we loved it. We didn't find it hard to operate AT ALL. Our stroller was compatible so we just pulled out the carseat and locked it into the stroller. Wayy to easy ! We also bought a second base for our other car for $50 (instead of buying a second carseat). I thought it was very versatile and price wise was very affordable.

I have twins and used the Snugride for both of them. They are VERY easy to use! M. twins are 9 months old and still using them (but they were 4 weeks early & still are only in the 5 percentile for size). I would recommend this model to anyone. I also got the stroller that the carseats fit right into to go along with it (definitely recommend doing that), so you don't have to take your sleeping baby out of his/her carseat to put them in their stroller!

Hi S.. I have one of these for the same reason you mentioned - the CR study. This is our first child and our first (and only) carseat so far (she's 8 mos old) so I don't have a lot to compare to. I do like the seat and love that you have the option to just have a base in each car (so you only have to buy one seat). I will miss that when we move her up to a front-facer in a couple months. It is very easy to install, to buckle up, and to adjust. My only small complaint is that it seems very heavy. I hate taking her places where I have a long walk from the car to the indoors (like her doc's office) Perhaps they are all that way and I'm just a wimp. :) Other than that I have no complaints!

We have a snug ride and I like it very much. My husband is not a fan of the handle, but I like it because I can hook my arm through it and carry him easier. It was kind of difficult to get him in it when he was smaller, but he is also our first baby and everything seemed more difficult than it is now!

We have the Graco snug ride system (carseat, 2 bases, & stroller) car seat snaps into the bases and stroller so easy she never wakes up. The car seat also snaps onto carts at stores Target, walmart, cub foods etc... I absolutely love it my husband was rearended with it in the back seat no baby just my older daughters doll buckled into it and eventhough the doll was tiny and the straps were extremely loose the doll never moved out of position. we did get a new one (seat) after that just to be safe i contacted the manufacture and when i sent it back to them they paid shipping and everything and gave us a $50 rebate for the new one and we got to keep the base i bought the same exact one and love it it is so easy to use and comfortable for my daughter who is 7 1/2 months old and still fits in it. It is starting to get a little heavy to carry with her in it she is 17lbs. I was so happy with Graco i just went and bought 2 new Graco seats in the convertible seat for her in a couple weeks to sit in. Congratulations on the new baby.

I have the Grace Safe Seat and LOVE it! I bought it for my son and getting ready to use it for my next son due June 08! I worked at Babies R Us for a year before I had children and learned all about the products and I will only use Graco! They are the best! Be sure to register on the graco web-site and then they keep you up to date and it makes it easier to get a replacement part if you have them registered. (I broke a wheel on my stroller)
Good Luck and Congrats!!

I have the Graco SnugRide Infant seat and love it. It is easy to get in and out of the car. As for it being hard to adjust, well once you sit down and look at how it is put together then it is easy from there! My only advice to a new parent would be pay attention to how the straps go thru the shoulder holes since you will have to completely pull them thru and rethread them to raise or lower them. Also remember that an infant that is rear facing needs the straps to come from below their shoulders, so it appears they come up and over the shoulders. When you turn them around, when the meet the weight and age restrictions then you want the straps to be coming from above their shoulders.

I received the Graco Snug ride along with the Quattro Tour Deluxe stroller as a shower gift and love it. My husband and I have a base in each of our cars and it's so easy to snap in. Once you know how to use the straps, it's very easy to adjust them. My son sleeps so well in this seat. I'm just sad that he's gotten too big for it and I need to move him to a convertible seat.

My Graco Snug Ride has gone through two kids (my nephew and my daughter). I wouldn't trade it for the world! Easy to adjust, fits on Graco strollers that aren't part of a travel system, and just well made! The only other one I would probably look at besides the Snug Ride, is the Safe Seat.

I had it for both of my children, and bought another one for the child I babysit. I love this infant seat, and absolutely would not use another seat. Evenflo is harder to use, and therefore more likely to be used wrong, making it less safe. Peg Perego is bulky and heavy, and I've heard that the straps aren't easy to adjust. Graco rocks!

I have one that we got to replace the Evenflo Discovery which received a bad rating. (They retracted the story, but the fact of the matter was that the discovery flew off it's base and I don't care if that happens at 75 mph or 30 mph, I don't want it. I see that they recalled it now.) Anyhow, I like the Graco snug ride and I haven't found it to operate any differently then our Discovery. Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a Snug ride from 2004 and I liked it and found it easy to use. The only issue I encountered were times when I couldn't get it tight enough and that was because the silver thing that the straps hooked onto would catch under the seat. Once my kid was big enough it was fine. Also, I only used it for 6 months because it got too heavy to lug around.

I only use Graco! My 4yr old had the snugride and my 4 months old just used the same seat. We actually just bought the new Graco Safeseat that goes up to 30lbs (unlike snugride that goes to 22lbs). I wouldn't buy anything else. My husband joked today that Graco should be paying me for the Graco products we buy. We currently have a Graco Safeseat, Graco Turbobooster and the new Graco Nautilus in our vehicles.

I bought our snugride in the travel set with the Graco Quattro stroller. I personally like this one over the lite Graco stroller we also have. It is a bit heavier than the lite one, but I like it better.

Congrats on the new little one arriving soon!!!

We have the Graco Snug ride. It came with our Travel System (Metrolite in Delancy). We haven't had any problems with it. It has gone easily into my Camry and my husband's Silverado. We bought our Travel System because our friends have it and have used it with both of their kids. I went shopping at Babies R Us before registering for it to try them all out. It was the best one. I liked it mainly because it was light, but also easy to use. I have certified as a Child Safety Seat Technician and I got to see a lot of different seats during that class.

I believe that the infant seat that we have is a Snug Ride, and I absolutely LOVE it! It's extremely easy to adjust the straps - which for me has always been one of the more important factors for determining whether or not I like a car seat. I don't want to spend 20 minutes working on adjusting the straps every time I have to get my baby in and out - especially in the winter when you need a little extra room to get the arms through with those big snowsuits. I hadn't heard anything about the recall (thanks God they retracted it!). Anyway, I really enjoy our car seat and would recommend it to anyone.

GRACO makes the absolute best infant seats out there. I would NEVER buy any other brand.

Then for Convertable/Toddler seats my first choice is Britax.

I have owned/tried/borrowed over 15 carseats in my daughter's 6 years here on Earth. I'm picky and those are the only brands I have any faith in and like. The worst brand is Cosco or otherwise known as Eddie Bauer they're cheap pieces of you know what and my daughter has actually broken a carseat of that brand.
