Travel - Do You Worry?

My husband just left on a 3 hour drive with another dad and his two kids (and two of our kids).

Now. My husband travels for work constantly. If I worried every time he got on a plane, I'd be a wreck. I don't worry when we all get in the car together as a family... but for some reason if he gets in the car with some of us (or all 3 of the kids) and I stay home, well... I worry. I won't be able to sleep tonight until I hear that they arrived... I know there is nothing I can do to control the safety of other drivers.. and it seriously bothers me to have us split up like this (yet once I know they arrive safely I'll be fine). I probably won't worry as much on the drive home as it will be light out while they are traveling back.

I am nuts? Please tell me you all are worrying too. :) It will make me feel less neurotic.

Thanks!
J.

So What Happened?

Thank you Mamasource! You kept me occupied and feeling normal. They've arrived (at 11:58 p.m.) and I can go to bed.

:)

I worry constantly about the safety of my family! You are definitely not neurotic. I'm okay if we are together, but the minute we split up I am a wreck.

I do it too. I worry every day when my husband goes off to work in the morning...especially if there is any kind of bad weather. And I am ok with all of us driving around town, but last summer we took a long road trip. I was just sure we would end up in some kind of horrible accident. I mostly worried before the trip though...once we were on the road it was mostly ok. I feel a little better too, knowing that other people do the same thing. Thanks for posting this.

Happy they arrived safely. I worry too when my husband travels with my son. I always say the same thing " I trust you and your driving abilities, I just don't trust anybody else".

You are SO not alone!

I worry about this too! I worry myself sick when my kids are traveling in the car w/out me, especially when it is someone other than hubby doing the driving, although I worry when hubby drives too!

I also worry when my whole family is in one car or when we are all on the same plane!

~I think it is normal. I would say try to relax but I know you won't be able to...

Sorry Woman.

You are sooooo not alone! I worry, worry, worry until I know that they are there safe and sound. Even if its just an errand across town. Both my husband and I do this with eachother-it makes us feel safe and feel better about it. All you can do is try to focus on other things until you hear from them. GL~

Same here. I am constantly thinking about their safety when my husband takes the boys on weekend trips. I'm actually don't have peace of mind until they are back home.

Yep, your normal! :) I really have a hard time when my husband and I travel somewhere without the kids, even if its just to the movie. What if we were killed in an accident? That's all I think about the whole time...worry, worry, worry. It stinks but I think that when you have kids its just something that comes along with them.

If you didnt worry, that would be something to worry about. I'm pretty certain the majority of us worry about such things. It's normal.

I do the same exact thing. I don't worry that much if we're all together either. But I worry when he or anyone else drives with the kids and all the 'what if's' go through my mind. Even for my adult family members. And then I worry even more if I read a story about someone getting hit from a drunk driver and dying. I am such a worrier i could drive myself nuts! But I pray for everyone's safety and just try to remind myself that worrying is not a good thing and you can worry about anything and everything if you don't stop yourself! But yeah i think it's normal to worry. At least I hope so. lol

I do. I thought it was because my husband is in a wheelchair and what if they were in a wreck or he had an emergency.....
