Transfering Files from a Samsung Phone

I really apologize that this isn't a parenting question, but I'm just not sure where to turn. The storage on my son's phone is almost full, and I can't figure out how to transfer things. I've been to so many websites and tried several things. I can see the pictures on his phone, but I can't see them on my computer. I even tried "developer's options" (though I wonder if that was a bad idea).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? If anyone knows what I should do, that would be great! Even if you know a good website to turn to, I would be so grateful!

Thank you for any help you can give me!!!

More info: I have googled this, and several websites said that this is a problem with new phones and to change a particular setting under "developer's options," which I have done. It didn't seem to work.

I wish it were as simple as connecting the phone to the computer with the usb port. That's what I did before, and that's what I tried to do. But my computer said there were no files found.

There are a lot of answers to this if you Google it.
There are even some on YouTube with demonstrations - although you might have to search on the year of the model of your phone.
If all else fails, talk to a place that sells Samsung phones and I'm sure they'll have someone who knows what to do.

I had a Samsung Galaxy SIII about 5 years ago, and back then, there was a software called Samsung Kies that allowed you to transfer content to your computer for storage, or to later transfer to another phone. I assume that's still around. It used to be preloaded into the Samsung phones, so then you just had to download the desktop version to transfer things from your phone to your computer. You can also look on the app store for "photo transfer app" or use the Google Backup which automatically backs up your photos onto your Gmail's Google Drive (I think this can be engaged by going into your phone settings/backup option and ticking one of the options that allows every photo you take to be backed up). If not, call your carrier for troubleshooting or go to one of your carrier's stores so they can assist you. I have also had luck just plugging in a USB cable to my phone and computer, browsing the phone's content, finding the folder with the photos, and dragging it/copying it to my desktop.

ETA: Forgot to mention you can also call Samsung for troubleshooting. I have a Sony phone at this time and when I had software compatibility issues with my computer, I called them and they did troubleshooting with me.

Have you tried a memory card? You can get mini memory cards that fit into a regular sized memory card and also fit most phones and tablets.
I would ask at the place you bought the phone.
