Hi everyone. I am planning on doing a cleanse called 4 Toatal Cleanse. I was wondering if anyone has done this cleanse. And even if you have not, if you have any other advice, as far as what to eat while doing the cleanse. This is my first time ever doing this and I dont know what to expect.
UPDATE: I just wanted to respond to some of the responses. First there is no point on asking my doctor about this since all they want to is to give me expensive drugs, and my insurance will not cover and "natural doctors". The exact name of the cleanse I purchased is by Genesis Today 4 Total Cleanse. I am aware that you can clean yourself out by eating alot of fiber and drinking water. There is no possible way for me to eat the reccomended amount of fiber a day. I have had issues with constiaption since I was a kid. The doctors just say to eat more fiber. I am sick of dealing with this and feeling bloated all the time. I talked to 2 different people about this at Zerbos, and they said a cleanse would do me good.

I agree you should get advise from a pro. I doubt your MD will think its a good idea because in my experience they don't like what they don't know about, and they certainly don't learn about cleanses in medical school. I did a gentle cleanse for my gall stones that I got from a website several years ago. The "total cleanses" scared me! But the prep advise was good if you do decide to do it. The one I did was 1 week of only vegetables, no dairy, meat, butter, bread caffeine etc. and a glass of warm lemon water (could sweeten it with honey) every morning before I ate. I could have olive oil and lemon dressing on the veggies. I have to say it got me past a bad time and I've never gotten that bad again, because now I know how the wrong foods affect me and modify as needed. Do be careful. From what I read a total cleanse will be very uncomfortable if you aren't "prepped". Like severe cramping.

My mother in-law (Candy Lewis) is certified natural health professional and she would be the perfect person for you to talk to. Her website is:

www.ahavawellness.com

Just email her and she responses right away, about a cleanse. She will ask a couple questions about your health and tell you about different cleanses that would be best for you. Just tell her that K. told you and she'll be more than happy to help you. If anyone reads this its the same for you as well.

Good Luck! :)

Cleanses are wonderful! You will feel great when its done. When you're going through it, it's good to be aware that you might not feel so great. Your body is getting rid of toxins - your liver is able to do its job and flush them out through urine, skin, etc. Some people get rashes because the toxins are being pushed out that way. If you have had significant illnesses or infections in the past - you might feel crappy again as those toxins are being eliminated. Trust me - its worth it in the end. You'll have more energy, your immune function will be better, you're liver will be able to do its job because it won't be congested.
As far as what to eat - it's hard to say without knowing you but generally its best to avoid dairy products and sugar. If you can get rid of those things you'll be well on your way to a healthier life.

I recommend that you talk to someone that specializes with the products. Some people that handle cleanses the most are Colonic Specialists. I did not check your location, but the Center for the Healing Arts (in Sterling Hts) offers this, and they have the products available for purchase. (Check your area or health food store, but beware of some clerks as I have over-heard them diagnosing patrons before and this is dangerous.)

If you are attempting a cleanse~ you need to do in in a specific order so you do not risk becoming ill or feeling other negative effects depending on what is in your body. Someone that is knowledgeable will tell you what organs need to be done first. IF you Master Cleanse, you can feel negative results and you may not want to risk this if you have small children you are taking care of.

Check with Colonic Specialists or Nutritionist or anyone in the Holistic Field before you begin. You can cleanse safely and without ill effects.

Good Luck!

Hi T.
I haven't done that one. I like to do my cleanses with whole foods. Cut out all processed foods and eat lots of fresh veggies and fruit. Starting a week before the cleanse. If you've never done one before, depending on your eating habits it can be hard.
Start drinking lots of water, and cut down caffeine. You want to be able to flush all the junk out. Detoxing can make you feel crazy as well. Remember your kicking up all those toxins.
Good luck. A. H

I sat in on a seminar one time that talked about short term cleanses won't work. We have to completely change our eating habits. If you want to know more, let me know.

please don't do a cleanse without first checking with your primary health care provider (doctor or nurse practicioner). Many medical conditions can be worsened by these. They remove the beneficial bacteria that help keep our systems in balance. You will likely get dehydrated, and if you have some conditions, such as low blood pressure to name just one, this is NOT a good idea. You will get a rapid weight loss, but it is nearly all water, and will return as soon as you drink normally for a few days. This is not to be taken lightly, L.

Hi T., I have worked with natural healing products over 28 years. About 6 years ago a product was introduced to our company that does the most complete detox - safely - easy with no preparation and very affordable.

Email me at ____@____.com to receive clinical and medical reports from most prestigious institute in Europe.

Free samples and education. I use this every day now for 5 years and am excited about it's ability to build immune system while acting preventively for cancer, etc. There are many forms of colon cleanse and detox, with various results. Check them all out before you begin. You might google the word zeolite and check out the incredible benefits of the natural mineral from the earth.

Also for down loadable information check out www.avallaonline.com where much information is filed. This is just building.

Hi T.,
All I have ever heard about these types of things is that it cleans out the natural bacteria in your body and could throw off the natural balance of things. I would definitely do some deeper research before attempting it.

Don't do this! Cleanses are a scam! The only thing you will be eliminating is the bulk that formed from the bottle of pills they make you take, making it look like you passed a bunch of toxin. Think about this; if your doctor were to suggest a colonoscopy, he or she would prescribe a liquid for you to drink during the day before the test, and put you on a clear liquid diet. Of course, the medicine would clean out your bowels and the clear liquid diet would keep them that way. When the scope was inserted, your doctor would find healthy, pink, moist tissue (perhaps polyps or hemorrhoids, etc) but NOT the black, tarry, disgusting 'thing' that some people will show you and say it was the 'unhealthy lining' of their colon. If you want to increase your colon health, focus on whole grain, high fiber diets with plenty of water. Adults should be getting at least 35 grams of fiber per day. Most of us don't get 1/4 of that! Please rethink the cleanse!!!

Congratulations! Good idea!

I've done cleanses before and what I had to eliminate from my diet was yeast (therefore no pizza, bread, rolls, anything that rises), dairy (milk, cheese, yoghurt), and sugars (that says it all. What doesn't have sugar in it??)

But what I can suggest in place of some of these things is: for eating non-yeast breads, check out Whole Foods or Better Health stores for non yeast breads. Or at IKEA you can get a pkg of hard bread. It's crisp and comes in round, flat slices. Alternatively, WASA bread, in the cracker aisle of stores. Very healthy.
For replacing milk, at least, there's rice milk, soy milk, or Almond milk. These are not dairy products and don't take much to get used to at all. I made the transition from 1/2 % to SILK w/out trouble and from SILK to Almond Milk even easier. Your health is more important and the goal can make the transition easier.
To replace sugar, use Stevia. Again, at the health food stores. Don't make the awful mistake of using Equal or the fake stuff. Those are not good for you even without doing a cleanse.
Good luck!
