Hello I started my period sept 24. ended around the 28th so we have been having sex basically everyday for a week trying to get pregnant. (trying since july) Now there should be no reason right now for my breasts to feel sore however they are sore everyday for the past 3 days. I also am experiencing very bad mood swings past 2 days. flipped out of my fiancé last night and also my boss today:( very unlike me to act like that at work to higher up. The only thing I can think of for this is VERY I know VERY early pregnancy? I don't even think it is possible to have this early of signs is it? jeez its only the first week. however I do hear stories that some people just "know".
This period was brought on by provera hormone drug since I haven't got a period on my own in almost a yr. I do have a 3yr old at home so I do know I can conceive....just when I ovulate I have NO IDEA.
any thoughts on this early of signs?
:) thanks

What can I do next?

I think you may actually be getting ready to ovulate. I sometimes get crampy and moody around ovulation. I say keep trying. ;)

I also want to add that I got pregnant after taking Provera because I wasn't getting my period, so take heart.

Here is part of a response I gave last August to another poster TTC from Livingston NJ - you guys should get together... you could be support for each other.

--------------------------------------

Typically - you can test at 12 days DPO - that is *typcially* TWO days before you would miss your period. HOWEVER, this assumes that you KNOW when you ovulated because you're charting. You cannot take the "difference between periods" and use that to tell when you are ovulating, because every woman is different.

If you are charting using your temp you will know that you are pregnant the fastest - before the HCG test, because your temp will not drop. Your temp usually drops 4-5 days before your period if you have NOT conceived. If you have conceived your temp will not drop.

I can also tell you this..... try not to "symptom spot" - which means every little "my boobs hurt" you think you're pregnant. Every time you're tired - "it must be because I'm pregnant".... except that you haven't tested yet and wouldn't even be far enough along that you would be having symptoms (which is typically the 6 week mark - or 2 weeks after you miss your period)!!!!!! I have been pregnant five times and the times I had a bunch of early symptoms before I missed my period and was SURE I'd be pregnant were when my tests were negative!!

If your CD1 (cycle day 1, or when you started your period) was 9/24, then timing-wise.....

1. You have about 12-14 days from the start of your period until you ovulate. Based on a period start of 9/24, you are on CD 10 right now. That means you likely have not even ovulated yet, or you will be ovulating right now or soon (good news - that means your babydancing might be successful!). What you are experiencing could be ovulation symptoms.... or it could be a result of the provera from inducing your period.

AFTER YOU OVULATE.......

2. the egg stays in the Fallopian tube for 24 hours waiting to be fertilized.

2. If it's fertilized it stays in the Fallopian tube another 3-4 days.
So at this point - It would be FIVE DPO (days past ovulation), and the fertilized egg has not even reached your uterus yet to implant. Based on your timeline and IF you ovulated on 10/4 (today) the fertilized egg won't even reach your uterus until around 10/9.

3. Another week to implant: Your egg can float around your uterus for up to 4 days (10/13), before it attaches. And complete attachment can take up to another 4 (10/17) days. That is EIGHT DAYS after the fertilized egg reaches the uterus for your body to EVEN BEGIN producing HCG.
It will take a couple days for your body to begin producing enough HCG to register positive on a test.

Given that you probably haven't ovulated yet and if you did ovulate there is almost NO way you could have implanted.... I would say it's downright impossible that you would be having pregnancy signs. You are having either stress-related or hormone-related symptoms.

Now - stranger things have happened and the body is a magical and wonderful thing or whatever.... so who knows. You may have ovulated early or something. Take a test. If you're producing enough HCG that you are having symptoms then you will likely be producing enough to test positive.

Please buy the book "taking charge of your fertility" so you have an understanding of how your cycle works. It will make you more comfortable as you understand your body and what goes on inside of you each month.

Good luck.

I would guess your symptoms are a result of the drug. Any type of hormonal meds can mess with you for some time. When stopping hormonal BC it can take months for things to get back to normal. At this point it would be too early for you to have even ovulated, so there would not be signs of pregnancy. I fear this may just be wishful thinking on your part bringing your attention to things more so then usual. Try to relax and not stress. But, to be sure, if symptoms persist you could always call your doctor to make sure these side effects are normal with the medication.

I know from experience that when ttc you become aware of EVERY. LITTLE. THING. your body does. I've come to learn that there were "things" going on with my body throughout my cycle that I paid little attention to prior to ttc. I am now aware of them every month! I have become overly in tuned to my body. I had to learn to just ride it out and wait until either my period starts or I miss it. I refuse to even take the early pregnancy tests, you know the ones you can take before you miss you period.

If by chance you did conceive it's way too soon for you to have symptoms. Even when an egg is fertilized it takes awhile before it implants. Then your body has to start producing enough HCG for you to start having symptoms. It would be too soon for your body to be doing all of that.

Good luck mama and I hope it happens for you soon!

It's too soon for symptoms. It's more likely that you are paying more attention to things you didn't think about before and noticing stuff that might have been there all along. I'm not saying you aren't pregnant, I'm just saying your body wouldn't be telling you just yet. Good luck.

I'm sorry - when we want something sooo bad - our minds can play tricks on us.

Please - if you aren't married yet - get married first. Make sure you know this man inside and out before you marry him. Too many people have gotten pregnant first and then got married - or NEVER married - and wondered why their "fiance" wasn't setting a date, going out and partying etc. I realize that both of you are older - but please slow down. You're young still!!!

Please have your OB/GYN refer you to an endocrinology specialist to see why your periods are NOT regular. THAT should your priority right now. Not trying to conceive. Sorry - but that's my opinion.

I think that it's probably the drug, BUT when we were TTC I noticed that around the time I was ovulating I was very moody and had some light cramps. So maybe you are ovulating?

For some women every month is a new adventure in PMS.

This sounds like a hormone induced moodiness.
Side effects of Provera are:
"Side effects include breast tenderness, hives, acne, hair growth and hair loss, break-through bleeding, increased or decreased weight, nausea, fever, insomnia, and jaundice."

3 years ago you could conceive but not ovulating and having no periods could make conceiving a problem for right now.
Secondary infertility is a big problem and more common than you think.
If you ovulate every month, on average it takes 12 months of trying to get pregnant.
Are your seeing a fertility specialist or an ob/gyn?
If you have no luck after a year of trying you should see a fertility specialist.
You might need IVF this time around.

I remember how difficult it was to wait to take a pregnancy test. It felt like an eternity. But I think of it this way, if the hormones are too low to even show up on a pregnancy test, they are too low to cause symptoms.
Phantom pregnancy symtoms however are a very real phenomenon. I had phantom pregnancy symptoms always when actively trying to conceive. And of corse it was always the months I didn't feel symptoms I was pregnant. However there was one symptom that always showed up very early- frequent urination.

Might be the hormones. Or it might even be the stress you're under: planning to get pregnant, are you also planning a wedding? (You mention a fiancé). Or it might also be that you want to be pregnant so bad, your mind's playing tricks on you. I've never heard of someone having symptoms so early, BUT stranger things have happened.

I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted, please.
