My son had his cut by Dr. Billings at Children's Memorial and we were very happy with her. It was just a quick office visit. I don't know if they take the BCBS HMO.
Hello, I am looking for a pediatrician or oral surgeon who can surgically cut the frenulum from my son's tongue. My 2 year old daughter had this done at birth by Dr. Sagan at Northwestern but I now have different insurance (blue cross blue shield HMO) and our current pediatrician wants to hold off doing this for my son unless he shows signs of speech or eating problems. I do not want to wait when he gets older as he will be more aware and the pain more intolerable. Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors who can do this and accept HMO?
Thanks,
L.

As you may know, Dr. Sagan is now with Swedish Covenant. He does accept the BCBS HMO plan. I take my daughter to him and that is the plan we have. If you wanted to contact his office the info is below:

Your current pediatrician may also be seeing that this child doesn't need the phrenulum cut. You could get a referral to a speech-language-pathologist for an evaluation. My daughter's looked long at first, but we all agreed it was fine after about 2 months. Which it is, now that she's much older :)
Dr Sagan moved from Northwestern & started a new practice called Northside Pediatrics near Foster & California, they may take the HMO insurance, you should check.
My friend just had the procedure down with her 8 month old son...Dr Hsu at Dupage Medical did it.
Hi L. -
We had a lot of difficulty with assessing my son's tongue-tie. My lactation consultants ultimately recommended that I see Dr. Fred Margolis in Buffalo Grove for it. He has good credentials and is an expert on the topic. He clipped my son's tongue-tie with a laser, and it was a very quick process. I definitely recommend seeing him.

I am not sure if you are nursing or not, but a lactation consultant can usually give you the names of people who can do it. good luck!
