D.K.
I love my toaster oven and have had it for several years. I use the toaster part for bread, waffles, etc. I also use the oven part to reheat pizza and cook other small things faster then the oven.
I am needing to replace my now 10 yr old 4 slice toaster that has finally broken and can't repair it.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I was thinking about getting a toaster oven , who has one and are they worth it or should I just stick with a regular toaster.
Are there any brands I should stay away from?

I have an older Black & Decker toaster oven. I love it. I use it for bagels, toast, pizza rolls, etc. Any small things that you want to bake, you can just put it in the toaster oven. It heats up faster than a larger regular oven, so it's nice when I just want to cook something for me, or me & my daughter.
I'll cook fish sticks in there too. Chicken nuggets. Sometimes bake fries. And sometimes reheat leftover food from a restaurant.
I prefer a toaster oven. I like to melt cheese on my toast/bagels and I like to heat pizza in there as well. Seems like less hassle then using the big oven.
Hello~ I have both, but in the last 10 years have really only used my toaster oven. I have it on my counter and having a young child made just about everything in it. Also, it's nice in the summer when you don't want to use your oven. I think I've used my toaster a handful of times. I keep it under the counter just in case. I'm actually getting ready to purchase a new toaster over with a little more space. I've made my toast in there as well. Mine is Black and Decker, no problems. So, I don't think you can go wrong with a toaster oven. I think I've acutally seen an oven with a regular toaster on the side. That might be a great option, two in one. Good luck!
I have both and both are used A LOT.
My toaster over is by KitchenAid and it is about 4 yrs old now. I love that thing. It saves me from heating the entire oven many times.
My hubby thought I was crazy when I wanted a toaster oven. Now he says he doesn't know ho we went as long as we did without it. My 15 yr old uses it a lot too.
We have a 2 slice toaster by Black and Decker and it is over 13 yrs old. Works great on a daily basis!
We got rid of our toaster for a toaster oven because it's more versatile, but, truthfully, I miss the toaster.
I gave up my toaster a couple of years ago to make way for a toaster oven. While it was convenient to heat up small meals, it always left one side of the toast soft, and I had to turn the bread halfway to get the same "toasting" on both sides...
Needless to say, a couple of months ago I gave up my toaster oven and went out and bought a new 4 slice toaster, of which I am very happy with!
The benefits to a toaster oven is that you can toast thick things like bagels or delicate things like fruit breads without destroying them. You can also toast cheese sandwiches and reheat pizza easily in a toaster oven. The drawbacks is the size limits you to about 2 slices of bread at a time. It really depends on what your family likes to toast and how many people need toast at one time. Good luck!
Ditto to most of the other answers--while the toaster might be ideal for toasting bread, the toaster over has far more uses. We have had only a toaster oven for probably ten years, and we use it at least once a day. It's great for reheating leftovers, making burritos (one of our current favorite dinners), and toasting bread. Ours can hold four slices of bread if you put them in right, though you will need to move them around midway so all the parts get warm. Good luck with everything.
We wouldn't live without either, the toaster is used many times a day and taoater oven a few times a week. I would get both, neither are too pricey. It is close to Christmas, if you have people that but for you, a toaster oven is a nice gift ( sorry to any moms that absolutely hate getting appliances as gifts).
The toaster oven! I love it! It is so much more versatile than a toaster and is great for cooking up a small meal for one or two (like a chicken cutlet or a piece of fish) with little mess.
I love my toaster oven and it has a rotisserie for chickens and loins, with accessories for fish and kabobs. But I would love a cheap slice toaster as well, because just one bagel's very lonely:)
I love my toaster oven. great for cooking small items like a pizza slice or fish sticks also without heating the whole oven.
