Hi there! I'll make this short and simple - my child suffered greatly from allergies/sinus infections/colds until I started taking her to a well respected Chiropractor and every now and then at the first signs of a cold or allergies I give her a shot of saline nasal spray. She's been great since! good luck to you!

hello... sorry for situation, but certainly not alone, need to build up natural antibodies and immune system, esp when around so many others, let me share my website with u, check out the research, anyone can give testimonials, but true research is rare and talks for itself, www.jlarkeyjuiceplus.com antibotics are not somthing u want alot of in a system, they can strip away the bodies natural defenses to fight off illness and the body becomes tollerant of them. this is a whole food product all natural, love to answer any questions, bplease check it out. good luck! xo

Cold Ese throat losenges and warm steam bowl with a towel over your head; breathe for about 10 minutes. Also a nasal spray of just saline several times a day to remove polen and junk. It is funny, but now that I have been on a CPAP machine for snoring for 2 years, I have not had any sinus infection or conjestion. It has moist air that I breathe all night and keeps my airways open. I love that side effect.
OOPS-I just realized this is for a child. Sorry-but at least the ideas may help someone else.

It’s so simple…bring your kid to a pediatric specialty chiropractor (there is no additional cost) and start giving him/her probitoics. You’ll see a difference overnight!!

I had a sinus infection off and on for several months. I finally was told to use a saline spray and it was fabulous. It really helped. Getting a kid to let you do that to him would be the miracle.
Good luck, those are so nasty!

When they are in day care they are constantly exchanging bacteria with each other (from the air, toys, chairs...anything they tough)
Give your child the highest nutritional diet you can get down him and that will give the body the ammunition to fight infections. My fav supplement is JuicePlus+ www.snap-juiceplus.com.
I know that everyone wants their child to drink milk, but it causes excessive amounts of mucus in the nasal and chest area. You little one will get as much or more calcium from spinach in their diet than milk and it is easier to digest and will not cause mucus.
Other things are obvious, clean hands, cover your mouth when couching, etc.
And you will know when it is over because you little one can breath and is running amuck in the house and driving you crazy with the new energy.

Cow mIlk products need to be cut out of the diet. We normally have very fluid thin mucous secretions. Cow milk thickens our secretions and also makes it "tacky", allowing all kinds of pathogens to stick there and thrive.
Cow milk will affect lung, sinus and ear secretions and infections thereof. In addition to that, it is filled with millions of bacteria- these bacteria were killed when the milk was pasturized, but the bacteria split open and dump their insides (toxic excrement) when they die- so it is very taxing to your immune system that your body has to mop up all those toxins.

To help get the body back into health-
Mangesium helps mucous membranes. Drinkable Magnesium citrate is one way, there is also a rub on 'magnesium Oil" you can get online. This increases cellular magnesium. Mag citrate can loosen stools somewhat, if that happens, you cut back the dose a little until comfortable.
Vitamin A is another big one for mucous membranes. Cod liver oil is an excellent source of vit A.

There is a saline spray called XYclear- it can help a lot with fungal type sinus infections. It would probably help with bacterial ones as well. These pathogens eat this beech sugar (xylitol) and die because they cannot digest it. I think it might have GSE in it also, which is highly toxic to fungus.
I suggested Xyclear to my sister who was on prescription Flonase for 2 years. The flonase didn't do anything, but Xyclear made it 90% better. However it didnt clear totally up. She could have cleared it up with diet changes and nutrition- getting her immune system back in place.

Another product I have yet to try is NCD Zeolite. This stuff cleans heavy metals out of the body. Why is that important? Because bacteria THRIVE behind heavy metals.http://zeoliteautismstudy.com/1-dr-p-clips-audio-420.htm The studies for this product with autism (and effects of the nervouc system) have found that it is treating unrealated illnesses!

My friends child went through this too.......his immune system is low.....I have posted many times about Immuno Laboratories...you may look for my older posts (even two I did today) and see if that sounds like something you may want to look into. She even had adenoids and all that out and had the same issue down the road until she did the testing.......

Good luck

Finish the antibiotics, of course, b/c it sounds like a doozy.
You're getting a lot of advice. To confuse the issue, my ped says green/yellow snot is NOT a sign of bacterial infection. She also says taking an antibiotic does NOT lower the immune defense system--take it for what it's worth. If you have a doc you like, listen to what the say. Good luck!

I am not sure how old your child is but @ 4 they can use the neilmed nasal rinse pediatric type. It is a squirt bottle that has a saline solution in it and it rinses the sinuses and nasal cavities it is the only thing that helped my son's sinus infections. After trying 2 sets of anitbiotics, oral steriods, inhaled steroids, nasal spray etc.... now i dont bother going to get antibiotics the minute it looks like he could be getting one we start the irrigation with 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 4 oz bottle at least 3 times a day. I got that trick off a naturapathy website on sinusitis and it truly works.

Hope your little one gets some relief soon they r awful.

Hi P.,

If there is an infection the runny part will be discolored, yellow, brown or green. It is running clear there is no bacterial infection. Antibiotics will break down his immune system and then the next infection that comes around will be easier for him to catch. If you HAVE to put him on antibiotics (most of those kinds of infections run their course without them) then you need to add probiotics to keep the yeast away (even if you don't see it, it's there, and will damage the immune system) and also something to rebuild the immune system. Elderberry extract/syrup works well with little ones. there are other ways to build his immune system as well, other than "remedies."

Hope I helped!

Agree with Kristin & Lyn. and if it's sinus infection - it acts about the same as bad allergies, but they have really foul smelling breath. Lots of liquid! Easy on the antiobiotics - better to treat nutritionally and holistically.

i second what mimi said except our doctor said a big fat no to eldeberry while taking antibiotic. he said no tests have been performed on those being taken same time.
as for sinus infection, the only way i know, is to take the whole course of antibiotics. otherwise it will return more than before.

I don't know how old your child is, but a very similar event occured with my older son. Suprise! He had seasonal alergies causing all the drainage that would turn into, what I thought was a cold or infection, nope. Just alergies that would then drain into his ear. . . antibiotics. . . you get the picture.
My ped suggested a daily 1/2 melt tab of children's claritin. We don't use it year-round, but this is the season for it and after his first ear infection of 2010 - we are back on the claritin.
sorry, probably not a help on recovery, but maybe another option to look into to avoid the whole mess in the first place. . .
