I tip 20% total for stellar service and around $20/host for average.
I've been to a lot of parties at CEC and don't remember the hosts doing too much. You might see how it goes and then determine how much you want to tip.
Having son's 6th birthday party at good ol' Chuck E Cheese this weekend. I've been to this one before and it's pretty clean and employees seem nice. Am I to tip for the party host/hostess? What is their job role during the party? Party will be for about 15 kids around $300 total for the party.
We ended up having a great time and our party hostess did a fantastic job! We ended up tipping her $30. Our bill was significantly lower because not all of the kids showed up. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Check the contract because it's often included.
When we had our son's party last year at a bounce house place, tip was included for the party hostess. She was AWESOME (really kept the kids entertained, set up, clean up, friendly... far beyond what we expected), so we gave her an additional $50 as we were leaving.
Yes, the host or hostess should be tipped the same as you would tip a restaurant server.
B.:
Yes! We tipped our hostess. Especially when she did a great job in taking care of the guests....etc.
Our hostess made sure our drinks were filled, the pizzas were delivered, presents in a bag (if you choose not to open there), cutting the cake, making sure that Chuck E. is there to sing happy birthday, the tokens were plentiful (that was what we asked).
Hope you have fun!! Happy birthday to your son!!
Yes I always tip for a $300.00 party I would tip at the very least $30.00. Also, I know Chuck E Cheese in San Diego only allows tips in cash so even if you pay for the party on a card, you have to pay the tip in cash.
Tip with whatever you're comfortable with like you would at any other place. I tip 15% unless someone is exceptional then it's more.
Yes you tip. Most if the host/hostesses are students and they only make $$ on tips.
I'd tip each helper at least $20-$25 cash
If you only have 1 helper, I'd tip 20% because they are providing a service.
Have fun
If you are sitting at a table and someone brings food to that table, you tip them.
I've always tipped - I used minimum of $1 per guest, per helper. So if there are two teens helping and 15 kids I'd give each teen $15 - minimum. But assuming there are going to be some parents around, I'd do $20 a teen and if one of them was extra wonderful I'd throw in an extra $5. What would you tip a waitress on a $300 check?
The bill ought to include gratuity. When we had our Chuck E Cheese party from hell, the gratuity was a required amount already calculated on the bill. I was relieved about that because I didn't have to worry about calculating it myself and I knew that it meant that all of the servers would have the tip evenly distributed between them. We were NOT allowed to tip any of them individually at the one we went to.
Yes, I would tip. I am always happy when I don't have to clean a mess and serve 75 pieces of cake.
15 - 20% is always a nice tip.
$20 per party assistant.
I would say yes, and tip at least $10. I know that's a little low, but they are getting their hourly wage to do their job too, so I think it's okay. I'd tip more if I was super pleased with the service.
