What is your favorite recipe for tilapia? The only way I have ever prepared it is in the oven with a little butter and onion on top and I thought I might try something new.

I use corn flake crumbs - I'll add dill or other seasoning - I've used garlic, onion powder - just depends on what you like - I rinse the fish, coat it with the crumbs, lay the pieces on a non-stick pan (or use foil sprayed with non-stick spray) then put a dot of butter on top of each piece and bake it. Yummy!!!

We grill ours in foil packets but you could also bake those. Like the others suggested we use similar flavorings - fresh squeezed lime juice (we prefer that to lemon), salt, pepper, jalapeno salt, cayenne, whatever makes you happy. For sides I typically make a fresh chopped tomato type salsa (chopped/seeded tomatoes, chopped red onion, minced jalapeno, minced garlic, lime juice, a little tomato sauce) with avocado slices and Spanish rice/coconut rice.

I have also made seafood soup with chunks of tilapia, shrimp, mussels, diced tomatoes, etc. My mother fries it if that is your preference.

I bake it lightly coated with olive oil, salt and pepper and then squeeze lemon juice over it when done. Or pan "fry", light evoo salt/pepper and lemon - taste basic same as baked, but with a better texture. My kids like it better pan "fried". Either method, you can use whatever seasoning you want, lemon pepper, curry powder, red pepper etc.

We usually just grill it in a pan because that's how my hubby likes it but last time we made it I dipped mine in melted butter with lime, and seasonings then dipped in panko crumbs. It came out reeaallly good! Nice and crispy!

I make curry out if it... and creamy fish chowder. Both recipes you can get off internet. We use a fish called Rohu, and its hard to get on a daily basis. So Tilapia is a good sub.

The best seasoning for fish is called either San Francisco Bay Seasoning or Old Bay Seasoning. Try using that with some butter on top and bake it.

I don't have a recipe to make it, but believe it or not, the best restaraunt I've eaten it is at IHop!!! It had some kind of cream sauce and it was awesome! Hope you get some good ideas. =)

LOVE this recipe, I used salmon the first time, but have also used tilapia:
http://littlelovables.blogspot.com/2011/04/herbed-fish-wi...

But usually, I put it in a dish with a little bit of olive oil, sprinkle some salt/pepper/crushed garlic on it, and bake (or pan sear covered on the stove) till done.

Also good with lemon pepper seasoning.

I heat butter in a skillet, and add garlic to it, drop the fish in when the butter is good and hot, give it a couple of minutes on each side, and serve.

We like ours blackened. Put some oil in a pan (preferably a cast iron pan but it's not necessary), heat it up, throw the fish in, sprinkle with blackening seasoning, cook for 3 minutes, turn, sprinkle on more seasoning, cook 3 more minutes until opaque and flaky. After you take the fish out of the pan, throw some fresh or thawed frozen shrimp in there to soak up the remainder of the seasoning. Yum.
Sometimes I mix up a marinade of lime juice, olive oil, cumin, Creole seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder, pour it over the fish. Microwave for 2 minutes. Flip fish over and load black beans, corn, peppers, onions, and salsa on top, microwave again for 3 minutes. I call it my Fish Dish.
