My husband bought a bunch of frozen flounder filets that I defrosted today.... I am guessing this is similar to tilapia... so not super delicious fish... besides fish tacos, what else can you make with cheap white fish that tastes good? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Cerviche - YUM!!!!

Try broiling with tasty stuff, otherwise, like some flavored croutons, fresh herbs, or maybe herbed olive oil...or even grilling it with veggies and tomato broth in a foil packet.

Well, damn, I was gonna say fish tacos!

Got a lemon, canned tomatoes, olives, wine (optional). Could make a puttenesca. Brown fish on both side in olive oil, remove from pan, add toms, olives, chopped onion/garlic, capers, wine, worchestershire, red pepper flakes, simmer 15 mins. put fish in sauce, simmer another 15 mins, finish with fresh basil, parsley, serve with your fave pasta!

What time should we be there?

:)

I like to bread them and bake them!! We make fish sandwiches out of the breaded filets. Yummy!

The way locals here do it, per cheap white fish:
Asian Style:
Make a sauce with Shoyu (soy sauce), sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds.
We just do it without a recipe, so I don't know the exact amounts.
Maybe 1/4 C. Shoyu, 1-2 T. sugar, 1 T. sesame oil, 1 T. sesame seeds.
Put it in a sauce pan, heat it up and stir all together. Just for a few minutes. Don't boil it. Just to heat it up and combine it.
You 'can' add a tad of water.. .if you want... to lighten the sauce.
Taste it as you go.
And adjust accordingly.

Then, pour this over the fish... which is cooked by poaching in broth, previously.
You can sliver up some Green Onions, to garnish it.

Real good.

Eat it with rice. Basmati rice or Jasmine rice.

When my husband and I were in Hawaii in December some of our friends invited us to stay for lunch after church and she fixed this awesome fish dish and it is now our favorite fish dish. I use tilapia and its great!!!

1 - 2 pounds halibut or cod or tilapia (thawed) cut-up in small bite-sized chunks and layered with:

1/2 pound (or less) sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 cups mayo
3 sliced green onions
1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
juice of one lemon (or lemon juice)
1 Tablespoon milk
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
1 cup Cheddar Cheese
Bake at 350 degree oven for 30 minutes (don't over cook)

Bread them with crushed potato chips and either bake (healthy) or fry (not so healthy) to make your own fish sticks.

Like others have posted, I use cheaper, more bland fish to fry. My favorite method, although a bit time consuming, is in the form of fish cakes.

Chop up the fish, mix in bread crumbs, 1 egg, mayo, and any add-ins around the kitchen (herbs, celery, onion). Form into patties and place in the refridgerator for at least an hour. Then, heat some oil in a skillet (I used just enough to cover the bottom of the skillet), and cook each side for 3-5 minutes. Yum!

You can serve these with fruit salsa, tatar sauce, cocktail sauce, ect...

I was going to say fish tacos too. We do our tacos two ways:
-fried in oil, battered in potato flakes and Tony Cachery's
- blackened, cooked stove-top in a cast iron skillet with butter, fish coated with seasonings (Tony's, chili powder, garlic powder, pepper, etc).

When we eat the tacos, we put on cheese, salsa, the fish, and then some tartar sauce (Kraft) that's been mixed with lime juice. It really makes a great tasting dip/sauce. It's probably 70% tartar sauce, 30% lime. Maybe 60/40 even. Real good.

I like to bread them with Panko bread crumbs and serve with rice. I use this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/panko-crusted-tilapia-219784 except I dont use Old Bay seasoning, I use lemon pepper.
