I am looking for Thrift/Resale shops in the NW suburban area (Schuamburg, Arilington Heights, Elgin)> Lookinf for ones that have more than just baby/kid items. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi D. -

In February there is a huge Goodwill store that is going to be opening in Arlington Heights, 1551 N. Dryden Avenue
Opening in February 2008 ###-###-####. It's where the old Ethan Allen was so it's a big one.

We like this one- it's pretty huge and always has nice clothing:
Community Thrift Store
###-###-####
900 E Main St
East Dundee, IL 60118-2438
(They give discounts to military families too if you qualify)

Also, if you're looking for furniture, there is Albe Furniture/Elgin Windmill Factory Antiques on State Street in Elgin. They have a 4 floors full of stuff- if you enter in the basement, it's books, a few antique booths and some older furniture, then go up a floor to antique booths, then up another to used furniture, and then the top has still MORE furniture and salvaged architecture- doors, windows, moulding/trim, sinks, tubs, etc. I would not recommend taking the kids here- my 6 yr old does OKAY with strict supervision, but some of the antiques are very pricy, whereas the furniture is really sturdy because it's older and usually can find great deals.

:)

There's a very large thrift store at the corner of Rt. 25 and 72, in Elgin. When my children were babies I got a lot of their clothing there!
