I'm looking for a twin/full bed for my 20-month son. Something simple & good quality. I'm hoping it'll be something I can buy now that will last him thru high school. Are there area stores that anyone recommends? I saw one up in Palatine. Does anyone have any good experiences?

We have purchased our kids' "big kid" bedroom furniture at PM Bedrooom Gallery. They have stores in Hoffman Estates, Lombard and Naperville. Their website is www.pmbedroomgallery.com and you can see a lot of the styles of bedroom furniture they offer.

The quality of their furniture cannot be beat and the styles will last throughout high school. We're even hoping they can take the sets with them when they start out on their own.

The best part is that if you want another piece of furniture (say a nightstand or a chest) later and they no longer carry that style, they will go to the craftsman and he can make one to match for you. So, you never will have a problem of the set being discontinued and not being able to get extra pieces to match.

Their service, delivery/assembly and quality have surpassed any place we have looked at.

Believe it or not, we found our 2 year old's furniture at Costco store. I had a friend very knowledgeable about furniture examine the quality with me and advised on the spot to purchase it. We are very happy with it. Also, I highly recommend the Moonlight Slumber mattress. It is fantastic and I am looking to get a king size for myself.

Hi E.,

Try Wicks on Randall Road. They are going out of business. We got a really nice bedroom set for my son about two years ago. It's a full size and he will have it until he moves out! lol

Another place is Ashley Furniture or even Walter E. Smithe. Sometimes WES has clearance furniture and you can get amazing deals.

There is also an Amish furniture place on Rt. 14 and we got an amazing sectional couch that we have had for 7 years now. The thing is indestructable. It's the best. They have all kinds of furniture in there that you can order. It's all beautiful.

Good luck with your hunt for furniture! It took us a while to find something we liked a lot!

you should go to village mattress in North aurora. it is a small mattress store, but the people are great. we have lived in our home in sugar grove for 20 years and have purchased all our mattresses from them! we have two sons, 19 and 13 and bought their first twin beds there, then we bought both boys full size mattress/beds. you should not be concerned with the furniture aspect of the bed, just the box spring and mattress.
neither of our kids have headboards on their beds right now and they certainly don't mind!

Wicks is liquidating because the declared bankrupcy. Choices are few, but you may get a good deal. You could call around to make sure they have kids stuff left.

Hi,

There is a Harlem furniture clearance/outlet store that usually has good deals. There is one in Hoffman Estates? On Roselle Road in between Higgins and Golf on the west side of the street and another in Glendale Heights? It is located at Route 64 and route 53.

good luck!

E.,
Wickes has twin size captain's beds, which are twin size beds and underneath are a couple of storage drawers. I bought one for my son when he was one, because he hated his crib and refused to sleep in it, and it lasted us for years. They are not very expensive. You should take a look at the showroom.
Good Luck.
