When it flares up, I do Kegel exercises. I just focus a little more in the back area. My reasoning is that it helps get proper blood flow through everything, plus it seems to help hold things back into place. I don't have anything that says it works, but symptoms usually calm down within a couple of days. I've never used any ointments or creams, but depending on how bad it is, you might need to.

Hope this helps a bit!

since we are talking "nasty" lol. what you are going to need to do is push the hemorrhoid back in. what it is is part of your inner butt that has pushed out and the pinched the blood in there. if you press it back into your butt then the blood can drain properly.you need to lube up your finger, press on the roid, then push it back into your anus (usually pushing part of your finger in there too), hold it for a second, then squeeze your butt and slowly pull your finger back out. i know, gross, but it helps a LOT. afterward you can wipe with some witch hazel, but the next day it will feel LOTS better.

Witch hazel on a cotton pad (the kind you use for makeup) and for extra relief, store it in the fridge.

epsom salt baths, warm tea bags (placed on the area) work really well, witch hazel, ice to reduce the swelling and ibuprofen for the pain...

I just asked this a month or so ago - I think you can click on my name and look at my questions - I got some GREAT advice. Things that really helped were witch hazel and "tucking it in" (I had an external one. Gross, I know.). Good luck!

Brutal after the babies, I used a lot of Tucks. Now on the occasion (uh, too much beer, tehehe), I spray a little Bactine on the TP and wipe.

Feel better!

It helps to increase your soluble and insoluble fiber (at the same time) so that you have regular, soft bowel movements with no straining. I use a great product that helps with everything else too (including lowering cholesterol and getting rid of allergies/toxins). Dr. Oz has done a lot of programs on poop!

Honey I have to take a Tylenol, use Witch Hazel pads, plus use an ointment the best I have come across is fromDollar General it is their store brand & works beeter than Preparation H,take a warm shower with my rear in the air, then afterwards apply the ointment then yes I have used an ice pack that I made from ziploc baggies to stuff into my undies then lay down or the heating pad.I get them reagrdless of hard or soft bowels.Need them removed but so scared of the pain afterwards I think I can live them for a little while longer but really i'm giving up.

Put several ice cubes in a ziploc bag, seal it with as little air in it as possible, tuck it between your cheeks, and sit on it. The cold shrinks the swelling and also numbs pain.

I put some witch hazel on a cotton pad (the bigger ones you can buy in the cosmetics section) and tuck it up there for a while...it helps A LOT -- I have been doing this during my pregnancies. It helped me so much earlier this week when I got food poisoning from a restaurant and spent 24 hours on the toilet :(

I had them bad after my second child. I never had them before. I was freaking out. Then a friend came over that had just had a baby also and she knew just what to do. She went to the store for me (how embarrassing but I was desperate for any help).

She bought Preperation H supositories and Which Hazel wipes. The combo was immediatly a life saver for me.

Hope this helps!

it really helps to keep the wipes in the fridge and the suppositories in the freezer, the coldness feels sooooo good. the suppositories will defrost in your bum fast enough that you dont have to worry about frostbite (so to speak!)

keep baby wipes handy in the bathroom to get yourself good and clean. it kinda sooths. it isn't as harsh as toliet paper. just be sure to put them in the trash. i think once you have them you are stuck with them unless you choose surgery. good luck, R.
