Hello everyone. I currently live in Maine with my husband and two beautiful girls ages 3 and 1. My mother in law lives in Cornelius, NC and has for about 5 years now. We actually went and stayed with her for 6 months before we started a family and loved it. We only decided to move back here because when we started a family I wanted my mom to be involved as all of my family is from here. Anyway, we are thinking of moving to the Cornelius area again to give our family more opportunity as there really is nothing where we live now. I would appreciate any advice or reccomendations on a good neighborhood for raising kids around the Lake Norman area as well as schools, child care centers etc. Thanks in advance.

A., I live in Kannapolis NC - only about 20-30 min from Lake Norman. We love it! Weather is awesome and you have so much here to do with kids! My parents moved close to us 5 years ago and I recently just gave birth to twins and I am sooo glad my mom is close. It's wonderful.

I live in Sherrillsford, NC which is on the other side of Mooresville and about 20 minutes from Cornelius. We moved here from MD about 1 year ago. My kids are 17 and 13 and they love it. They currently attend Catawba county schools, which are wonderful and not overcrowded like many of the mooresville schools. I am not sure price wise what you are looking for, but there are many houses for sale in all areas and pricing. If you need a good realtor, call Candi Schuger at ###-###-#### she is with allentate and she is WONDERFUL. Good luck on your move.

Dear Anela
My name is M. Dechene, my husband and I were born and raised in Maine, we moved to Mooresville about 5yrs ago and have not looked back. This is a fantastic area to raise children and live on or near the lake. I would rec. living in Iredell County, the school systems are much better than Charlotte area schools. My 3 children all went to Lake Norman High School and did great. I also have friends that live in the Mooresville City School District and are doing very well and love their schools. You can't go wrong with either of these areas. The other advice that I have is to stay away from the Brawley Road area(The Point), this area is way overcrowded and traffic is extremely bad, do not let any realator take you there and convince you that traffic is fine. Alot of people move in this area and then a couple years later sell. By the way where in Maine do you live? M.
