The Best Kitchen Towel

I would like to buy new kitchen towels and would like to know of a brand that is really abosorbent. I used to buy them at Walmart and then they switched brands or something and the new ones aren't very absorbent. The ones that feel like they would be the most absorbent seem to run around $4 each so I thought I would ask for advice here before spending any money.

What can I do next?

I just found microfiber towels (8.50) with Pampered Chef...the only thing is you can not wash them with fabric softner. My son (18) was helping me dry dishes one night and he told me I had to get more of them...they were just great at drying a lot of dishes without getting too damp. Pampered Chef's kitchen towels (14.50 for 2) are "really big" (29"x19") and really nice too. Sometimes, like right now, you can get them in the outlet section online

and they run about $5. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Clorox has made some super towels that are available at grocery stores. When you add bleach to the wash it reactivates the microban or whatever you call it. I would check their website for details, but I love mine.

I really like the ones from Crate and Barrel. They are a little pricey, but they last a long time. I have had mine for over 4 years.

My children are all grown now, the youngest being 45 next month. They were babies in the era of diapers. Once they no longer wore diapers, we, being my Mother and I used their diapers as dish towels. We had birdseye and curity diapers back then. They seem to last forever as I just threw an old curity one away last year. True, if you use fabric softner they are less absorbant. If you can find the microfiber cloths they are also very good.

FLOUR SACKS!! They are 5 for $5 so they are very affordable, and they dry like nothing else. They have them at Wal-Mart in the dishtowel section. They are 100% cotton, and leave no streaks on glasses- and as a bonus the towels dry quickly since they are thin. I can't say enough good things about these towels!

If you want cheap- in the automotive dept at walmart they have a bag of various microfiber towels for cheap cheap! I love them and use them to stuff cloth diapers because they can hold, like 2 cups of water. It's great.

K.,

I was in the same predicament you are currently in. I have found that KitchenAid brand towels are the best. My family and I use them as hand towels in the kitchen or to wipe up water on the counters. I love them! They are attrative looking as well and I even found them at Ross.

Good Luck!

I don't know which brand is the best but I do know that if you use a fabric softner in your rinse a towel will not be as absorbant. N. F

Check the automotive section of 99 Cents Only. They often have 2-pack microfiber towels. I used them for cloth diaper stuffers, but can vouch for their absorbency.

As for a kitchen towel, I like the thin cotton flour sack type. IKEA has a great-sized one for less than a dollar each...they might even be 49 cents (white with a red stripe). They hold up great wash after wash and just get more absorbent with washing. They dry quickly and I use them for bibs too.
