Hi Ladies- I have a question about teeth whitening. I would like to know your experiences with teeth whitening products and what you recommend. I really only need to whiten about 1 to 2 shades. Any products/treatments that you have had a good experience with?

thanks

Crest White strips work well, although the best kind is the kind from the dentist. but some over the counter ones work good enough. and just so you know most people get tooth sensitivity while whitening but don't worry once you are done with the treatment it will go away. Also for best results don't eat or drink foods that stain while for the days or weeks that you are whitening it can cause the teeth to stain even more and make the treatment not as effective.

Our whole family did the Crest White strips and had great results. Then we purchased whitening toothpaste.Every once in a while we use the strips.
Remember to make sure it toothpaste always has the "ADA" approved on the box.

The Dentist suggested that we use Whitening toothpaste till the tube runs out and then use regular toothpaste the next time till it runs out and then go back to whitening. He says the "whitening" can make some peoples teeth sensitive.

I just recently bought Colgates toothpaste with the mini whitening strips in the toothpaste. Dah... Don't ask me how it works but it does. I have seen a significant difference in my Granddaughter's teeth. So much so that I bought some for myself. It is not in a tube, it is the little bottles and sells for about four dollars. You only use a pea-size amount on your toothbrush and be careful not to swallow. It makes this very clear on the bottle.

I loved Rembrant - not sure if it is whitening kit or what they call it but it has a mouth guard and gel in little applicators. I used about 1/3 an applicator for my whole mouth - maybe less to avoid any gushing out. It works great! I have sensitive teeth/gums and this never burned me or anything!

This doesn't work for everyone, but it really works for me! Hydrogen Peroxide straight out of the bottle. I swish it on my teeth and leave it in my mouth for 5-7 minutes at a time once or twice a week. (I did it every day for about a week or two at first, but be careful if your teeth are sensitive). You can put a tiny bit of mouthwash in with it if you hate the taste, but it's not really so bad. Didn't work for my husband at all because his teeth are grey, mine were just stained yellowish from coffee and wine. Give this a try - it's cheap and so easy if it works for you and dentist says its totally fine to do!

Even though there's a rather large initial expense, I am much happier with my dentist-made tooth whitening kit. It includes mouthguards or "trays" that are formed to my mouth and then the bleach gel, which is about $25 a tube. The tube goes in the fridge and lasts quite a while. After my son got his first set of braces off, I bought a couple brands of whitening strips. Turns out they sort of "striped" his teeth because the strips don't mold to the enamel all that well. It wasn't something that was incredibly noticeable, but since we knew how the trays worked, we were disappointed.

Crest White Strips are easy and really work. Teeth don't stay that white after stopping using them though. But now my teeth do stay pretty white with Colgate Visibly White toothpaste - I love it.

I'm not sure what works, but I can tell one thing that doesn't - Zoom whitening at the Dentist's office. My aunt is a hygienist and she said all Zoom does is dehydrate your teeth. Yes, they look whiter temporarily, but as soon as you begin eating and drinking again, the stains come right back.

Good luck!

i used the crest white strips supreme professional strength. pay attention to which white strips you purchase. the professional strength is 14% hydrogen peroxide (the highest out off all their strips). its the peroxide that will bleach the teeth. many of the other crest strips has lower peroxide %. you can buy them on ebay for a pretty reasonable price. i did mine for 7 days. read the instructions carefully and because of the higher peroxide %, there was chance of increased tooth sensitivity. when that happened to me after the 2nd day of using it, i skipped using it the next day, and then alternated days if my teeth were still sensitive.
