TANKINI Suggestions

They say everything changes after you have a baby. I never imagined how true that would be. I am looking for a tankini which will stay on, which looks cute, which will stay on in the surf, and which won't leave me exposed if DS, 16 months tugs on it when he wants to be picked up.

I am curvy and petite. 5'1" tall, 125lbs, and a size 4 pant.

Thanks for your suggestions.

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I bought the "yellow" polkadot tankini from Old Navy. Its got underwire, a bra like strap at the back, adjustable shoulder straps, and a flattering but not too revealing neck line. Its fitted through the torso without being too constricting and has sweet bows. Best of all, it came very reasonable priced.

My summer is saved.

We're the same size (at least when I'm not prego)...
- Lands End is great because you can mix pieces and sizes
- J Crew catalogue
- Target (you have to try on a TON, but they have many mix-and-match/ reasonable options)

I have had some luck at TJ Maxx and Marshalls as well!

Lands End suits really are awesome. Nothing will prevent a tankini from coming up if someone pulls on it (just like a tshirt that is pulled up - it will rise). But the suits are well constructed and the most that will show is your belly. Then you just pull it down.

I'm not a fan of anything else at Lands End, but I ALWAYS buy bathing suits from there. Plus, if you order the wrong size you can just return it to any Sears.

I would go to the Sun and More store - or is it Water and More store and try some on there - you will be looking at spending about $60 to $80 for a good one.

Lands End and L.L. Bean are good places to get one.

For me, tankini's are like thongs - you have to try a LOT on before you find the "one" that works for you. I would STRONGLY suggest that you get one that does NOT tie at the back of the neck but has a hook - I prefer those.

Try Lands End. I've had super luck with their tankinis. I'm never overexposed.

ETA: Lands End has a big Friends and Family 25% off sale right now. Let me know if you want a coupon code for that.

My sister just pointed out to me Eddie Bauer. While we don't have a store near me, I jumped right on their website and there were all kinds including board shorts, brief/bikin style, skirts, etc. All seemed flattering yet not too flimsy at least based on the pictures. Good luckgetting ready to embark on the same search myself! :O)

I bought mine at Lime Ricki. I LOVE the suit!! The top stays right in place, and it gives great support. They have great styles. I've had mine for a few years, and the quality i top notch. They also offer free shipping returns, if they don't fit. (You might have a store near you, otherwise you have to order online.) Because they are so supportive, they can seem tight. If you normally wear a small top, I'd get a medium...etc.

I love the suits from Eddie Bauer or Lands End. Just make sure you don't get ones with ties on the top!
