We also loved the swim classes through the Maple Grove Community Center. We looked into Foss, but it is expensive, and we really thought that the community center did a great job!
My son will turn two this November and we are looking at getting him into swimming but we are looking for a place in either New Hope,Plymouth, Maple Grove that teaches toddler swimming as we live in the New Hope area.

I second the recommendation of going to the Courage Center! We went there and loved it!!
love foss swim school. Expensive, but worth it. they have locations all over the place. i think the website is wwww.fossswimschool.com
You should go to Foss Swim school -- I'm pretty sure they have pools in at least one of those places.
Foss is expensive but totally worth it. They do a much better job than most places.
Courage Centerin Golden Valley has great Waterbabies and Water Tot classes for the community. Your child does not have to have a disability to participate in the community programs.
Maple Grove Community Center has a great program!
Hey D.! my son will be 6 months this month and we are doing swim lessons at FOSS SWIM SCHOOL in St Louis Park @ Knollwood Mall, but I know that they have a FOSS in Maple Grove as well!! We started our 4 week classes in August two times a week tues and thurs in the evenings! My SIL (sister in law) just had her daughter there who will be 3 on the 14th and she LOVED classes!!!!
We also go to Courage Center for swim lessons. Its a good happy medium between most community center classes that just familiarize them with the water and basic skills but don't advance them until age 4, and Foss, which has proven highly successful with my nephews but unaffordable for us. The nice thing about the Courage Center pool is that the water and air are very warm, being a therapeutic pool, so it helps the kids relax and focus on learning. My complaint is that (with experience in Water Babies, Water Tots, and Level 1) they do the same things every week,so the kids don't progress as quickly as they could. For now, just get him in a pool a lot so he is familiar with and comfortable in the water. Good luck!
HI D.-

We love Foss Swim School. They have a place in MG. www.fossswimschool.com
Likely not the cheapest but was the best and most successful with our son.
Good luck.

Brooklyn Center Community center also does lessons (next session starts in Sept I believe) and the instructors are great
